GFC ground update....

Recommended Posts

It would be cheaper for Scally to put £10M into a road link fund and upgrade Sittingbourne than it would be to build a new 25,000 capacity stadium with casino/hotel/sports centre at Ebbsfleet.

personally, I think he has lost the plot, and his financial mismanagement could ultimately see the bankruptcy of the Gills.

They are, and always will be a lower league club. Nothing wrong with that.

Except Scally thinks himself the Abramovich of Division 1, but with other people's money.

Just in case Brian doesn't read the forum pages, I think we need to make our feelings known very clearly that we don't want to get sucked into a deal with Scally. Maybe for the first game of the season, a banner - 'say no the Scally' or something like that, or a petition - anything to convince Brian of the depth of feeling against this possibility of a tie up with Gillingham.

I too cannot help but remember what happened to Dartford when they got involved with Maidstone.

Transport links to Sittingbourne, or even Maidstone, has very little to do with why Scally wants to bring his club to Gravesend. It is more likely the fact that neither are in the Thames Gateway area and as such neither would attract government grants for new development.

It is typical of the local council to do very little to help / support the Fleet, but almost appear to bend over backwards to attract Gillingscum Fc to the town. If Scally's plan should come to fruition it would almost certainly bring about either the merger of the two clubs, or the ultimate demise of the Fleet.

Scally should be told in no uncertain terms to go forth and multiply.
