Redbridge vs. Margate

Gave away two stupid goals first half. The first when we lost possession on our left. Their man ran on and scored inside Trego's near post. He didn't even dive. Second was a pen after Beckwith got in a right old tangle and handled while on the ground. 2-0 h/t. We pulled one back, lovely free-kick from Oates curled in from outside the box. We took at least half the crowd.

I was there too! We should have won that game really cos they wer'nt all that! but thats football i spose. Had a nightmare getting to the ground but at least getting home was better. Looking forward to the next match in the cup and should win that one!

beckwith made both mistakes that cost us the goals.....

rocky missed another sitter... (which cost us a point)

pat was imo poor at best again. seems so many yards of the pace its untrue... and who was he passing to?????

nice to see green there again was chatting to him looks like all is going well on his road to recovery...

thought the rest of gate were ok.. just wernt our day i guess, man i dont like that kit...

186 attendance, pull the other one!!!!

about 50 gate fans there home croud was non existant... was 5 home fans behind our goal... and a few in the seats...

Should have won really!!

As usual sloppy defending let us down for the first!!!! As for the 2nd!!! "Is Beckwith still injured" he has previously been awesome, today he was poor!!!!

Oates goal was a stunner, rocky missed another sitter!!!! Benevides was quality!!! Gradely was his usual weak self!!!!

We threw away the points against a team that we should have beaten with ease!!!

Good showing from the gate fans though, well done!!!!

One of those days.

So annoying not to get the points.

Reasonable game and of the six league games i have seen ,this was best i have seen Margate play this season.

I thought things really coming together and excepting another two individual mistakes all played well.

Redbridge were fairly average, although their defence was 'well knit',and were obviously well briefed on Rocky and Che and gave them very little space.

Trego-looked secure to me.Good distribution. No chance with the goals and apart from when ball hit bar-had no real saves to make

Oates,Barnett,Edwards,Beckwith, Annon.

All played well-Barnett very calm cool and efficient.Edwards back to his best-was not turned at all .Beckwith made two bad mistakes leading to both goals in an otherwise good performance.Would like to see him there for the season, as sure he would not do that again-maybe he should get longer studs in his boots.

The entire defence played well.

Midfield was ok-not brilliant, but best game i have seen Benevides have.Unlike other posts, i thought Gradley played well-adopting the much needed defensive midfield role.Seems he is going to be like Leberl-quetly effective.imo two good games on the trot.We need the balance of a defensive midfield player-his passes find his own man.-plays simple effective passes to his own side and wins most balls in tackles.Unlucky to get booked .

Rocky and Che tried hard, but were well marked by a well drillled defence.Rocky probably ought to have scored when one on one with keeper, and would on another day, but it was not exactly an open goal.

Margate had 60% of possession in first half and 75% in second, and again everyone played well.

A few goalbound shots were well saved or deflected.

My main criticism would be that apart from Gregs good goal, we had quite a few other freekicks and corners, but never really threatened as the balls were inaccurate or too long.

I'm normally the first to say that its points that count-not bad luck stories, but i just feel that today, despite the loss we may have turned the corner, and got some structure/organisation in defence and midfield

In fairness Redbridge probably should have had penalty at start of second half to go 3-0 up ,and then hit the bar;but otherwise had little to offer.

Maybe we looked a bit more comfortable against them because they are not a big or physical side, where we always come unstuck.

Whilst the Gate of 2004/5 is never going to be a top 5 side, i think we could just finish in top half, which is all i think can be reasonably expected in a season of consolidation and rebuilding.Just trust we do not flirt with relegation as we may not have that much mental toughness.A good FA CUp run to accompany would be nice
