Dorking 0-1 Billericay

Fairly comfortable win although another goal would have been nice.... Dorking rarely looked like scoring, Goths only had one real save of note to make towards the end. We started well, Brayley had a couple of half chances early doors. Brayley created the goal with a deep cross that Hockers headed in at the far post shortly before half time. 2nd half much the same, Bert hit the bar and their keepers made a couple of decent saves.

Gothard

McSweeney Sappleton Trott Kerrigan

Heeroo Forbes Hunter Dormer

Hockton Brayley

Henty for Sappleton (knee injury, half time)

Cousins for Heeroo

Stowe for Hockton (hamstring, 2nd half)

Snu: Game, Wareham

a solid performance from us i thought. dorking battled away well as you would expect in the fa cup, but i always felt we were in control of the game.

we had quite a few chances especially in the first half but unlike last week we could only make one of them count. we hit the bar in the second half and goths made a good save late on to keep us ahead.

good turnout from the away fans although i would like to point out that the fact that the tea bar ran out of food was not solely down to me.

only downers were injuries to pat and hockers. they are important players for us, so let's hope their injuries are not too bad.

oh and a home draw would be nice!!

A satisfactory performance I thought. We dominated and yes another goal would've been nice but that wasn't due to the lack of trying. As SW said, loads of chances, one goal. I'm not worried about it though. Bertie will get his scoring boots soon enough and Stowe is confident that he'll score when on the pitch and given the chance.

The team played well and a resounding "well done lads" should echo around the forum...unlike the underwhelming support that was recorded last week when 10, yes 10, responses were posted congratulating the team about our 6 - 1 drubbing of Kingstonian. Very poor response I thought and as I've said before, if praise was a banquet, the team should thank the supporters for the cheese sandwich. Funny that the critics that pitch up on here when we don't do well think that criticism is a banquet and invite the team for a full 8 course (inc. cheese and bikkies)!!! Come on, lets have some praise and constructive comments. They do read this forum.

Worrying about Hockers injury but spoke to him just before I left and he said his knee popped out and popped in (I presume he is the "Hopton" in the Non League Paper - why I but the piece of sh*te, I have no idea...perhaps the faint hope that they may have a decent and acurate report about us). He said it's a bit sore but he was hopeful for next Saturday. Lucky we haven't got a mid week game. Again, if he wasn't fit, I wouldn't be worried. I would expect Bertie and Stowe to grab the chance with both hands and get on the score sheet.

MOM - Well, it will have to be Hockers. I thought MacSweeny had a good game as well and solid performances from all the lads.

The ref and linesmen were on planet "haven't Got A Clue" again...

And the attendance was 302 most of whom were 'Ricay supporters and a well done to all those that made the trip. Despite my criticism's of the lack of praise when we do well on this forum, I applaud all those that pitched up yesterday.

As for Dorkings ground, well...er...nice setting. The North Downs nestling in the sun behind the East stand were very impressive. The pitch resembled Redbridge's...20% grass 80% weeds, which was surprising as the park next to the ground looked in top shape (perhaps we should've invited them to a game of "park football"). What was surprising was, they were obviously not expecting a huge amount of people as they ran out of burgers 10 minutes before the game started. I will reserve my comments concering this oversight.

Overall, another £3,250 in our coffers and the hope of a decent (home?) draw to be announced on Monday.

Totally in control of this game although it is always a slight concern when you only have a one goal lead in case something unexpected happens.

Bertie could have had at least three although it was his great cross that provided the goal for Danny.

Hope that Danny's injury is not too bad he seemed to twist his leg in the ground not sure if it was his ankle or knee that was damaged. Pat was complaining about his leg injury early in the first half but managed to last until half time before sensibly being replaced.

Looking forward to the draw tomorrow it is certainly one of the things that makes the FA Cup exciting the anticipation of your next game.

I thought Bertie was excellent yesterday, probably just about my motm, full of running and almost scored on a couple of occasions. Also good to see Danny Kerrigan put in probably his best performance of the season. McSweeney has, in my opionion, been our most consistant player so far this season and remains the only player to ahve played every minute of every game!

I agree regarding McSweeney has been superb all season and also looks like scoring when goes up for set pieces. When Pat went off at half time yesterday I do not think anyone was concerned when Dave went to centre back and Gary came in at right back.

Good stuff, although i could only keep up with the match by some slightly dodgy dorking site it was still just as satisfying to see us go through. Well done the boys, and lets hope Danny H gets better soon, but as someone said if it means that Stowey gets a starting place then im sure that wont be a bad thing

Impressive performance, we dominated from start to finish, showed good commitment and never once looked like having one of those "nervous little wobbles" you get when only one-up in a cup-tie against "lesser" opposition. Our superiority was possibly highlighted for me by the fact that so little was our defence tested, that it took me nearly 15 minutes of the second half to notice that Henty had come on as sub ! (or was that coz I was trying to teach Nathan a couple of Ricay Cup songs?!)

Anyway, thanks to a nice little club for a lovely day out at a super setting - looks better in daylight than my last nitetime visit! I could almost forgive them the slight "tea - bar oversight" ...

Ahem, sorry JR. Its a very good idea, and to be fair it was the only way i could keep up with the game, it just didnt strike me as particularly reliable, and i didnt hear about the goal until half an hour afterwards. It is a good idea though, and i wish we had something similar as i have to miss a lot of games
