The cup run that ended at Villa had some good ones , the Colin Blewden last minute equaliser at Marlow , Colchester then Cinderford . Bury , with Ports 6 goals . And i enjoyed watching a Jason Eede goal send Wealdstone down with us at Vicarage Rd

Got to agree with you there Anon. I thought it was 11,000 Gate, perhaps some came over the wall. What a great day that was.

Certainly wouldn't allow that many in the ground now. But it does show the potential if we get it right.

In chrono order

Sunderland

Margate 2-1 Floodlight final 1970 (hughes saved pen)

Tonbridge 4-0 `71 (promoted) Ronny Hall hat-trick (one for Jonesy)

stones 2-0 league 73

stones 3-2 (SL cup 77?) lead kept changing

Nuneaton 2-1 SL cup 1/4 final - Burrett stood on defender!

Wimbledon 0-0 (FA Cup78) the 2 pens

Barnet 2-1 (FAT) Start of good times again?

Colchester 2-0 `95 Brilliant

(Plucky) Cinderford `95 3-0 Most tense game

Just an initial stab !

Not a competitive game I know, but the game to officially open the floodlights with Nottingham Forest, who were European & League Champs at the time, ranks high on my list Not quite like those mentioned above, but a great chance to witness some outstanding footballers playing on our hallowed turf (and, no, I'm not talking about the Fleet team <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />)

What about Facup 4th Qualifying round (I think) against Bromley in 88???? 2-0 down with a minute to go....2 goals from Gary Aldous to make it 2-2 then they get a penalty and score in about the 9th minute of injury time....

I know this is a slightly different example, but for the quality of the day out and the importance of our achievement, surely the Bedford game deserves a mention? Also, the corker a week later at Margate, the best whipping job we've ever given out.

Aston Villa of course (we hit the bar, you know...)

Gordon's original post specified home games which would rule out Villa, the Wimbledon FA Cup replay (which we lost in the cruelest fashion) and the Bedford Ryman promotion winner etc. A couple of particular favourites of mine include inthe 1970s beating Maidstone Utd ( an all too rare treat )and the decider between the Southern League Champions and the Cup Winners when we beat Weymouth 2-0( a day when Brian Woolfe was at his best ). A brilliant free kick by Steve Portway at home to Wealdstone in an evening match and the final game of our first season back in the Conference v Halifax (1-0 Hatch) stick out. Beating Hereford 3-0 at home in the same season was a shock. I didn't attend the Sunderland game but as it is in Fleet folklore it has to be in the top 10. Our complete domination over Colchester winning 2-0 must be one of our finest achievements. Also for pure football poetry the way we attacked against Morecambe to win 6-0 was outstanding. If only we could play like that all the time. I would need to check old programmes to recall other games. I somehow doubt that Kent Floodlight League games v Sheppy, Thanet etc will feature heavily! kmj.

Over the 8 years I have supported the Fleet, some games that stick out for me are;

The day at Bedford when we won the Ryman League, not the best game but a great day for the club and the fans.

The night we lost 0-1 to Canvey at Stonebridge Road when the placwe was packed. It was an experience.

The KSC Final at Margate when we whipped them 5-0, another great day out.

The day we beat Scarborough 5-2 in our first conference season and the final game of the season when Liam Hatch's screamer kept us safe against Halifax

No doubt there are others but that is my offering!!!

Kin `ell, this is getting me down. The original question was games AT GRAVESEND. I would have thrown a few away games into my original top 10 if that was the case.
The Wimbledon FA Cup replay in late `70s was the worst injustice ever. We played so well only for Cork to score that goal in the very last minute but what a performance.
