Enfield clash doubt

Enfield clash doubt (Independant)

Enfield Town and Enfield FC might not be guaranteed a big bank holiday clash with each other, when the Southern League Division One East fixtures are announced.

Traditionally, the league does its best to arrange derbies for bank holidays, such as Boxing Day and Easter Monday, in order to prevent fans from travelling too far during the holiday period.

Clubs also usually enjoy bigger crowds on public holidays, and a bank holiday meeting between Enfield Town and Enfield FC who are currently looking for a new manager could even attract a four-figure attendance.

But even though it seems like commonsense to pair off the two Enfields on a bank holiday, the two clubs could find themselves playing someone else.

This is because Enfield FC play their home games at Ware FC which means, geographically, their closest rivals next season will be Harlow Town.

In fact, Enfield Town's home ground in Brimsdown is closer to the likes of Ilford, Potters Bar Town and Wingate & Finchley, than it is to Wodson Park, the new home of the Es.

Even though a clash between Enfield FC and Harlow, or Enfield Town and Ilford, is unlikely to be the most mouthwatering fixture for a bank holiday, it might be the league's first choice.

Fans will have to wait until the beginning of next month to find out when the Enfield derbies' will take place, as that is when the fixtures are due to be published.

See inside for the latest update of Enfield Town and Enfield FC's pre-season schedules.

May I explain that Brimsdown is in the London Borough of Enfield though not in the Parish of East Herts District Council.

Are all the currently announced efc signings all ex-Hertford Town and therefore East Herts players (As good as they are) yes or no?

I don't mind playing against an ex-Hertford Town team on Boxing Day, but it will be interesting to see who the league decides who is closest neighbour for this derby match!

I personally couldn't give a monkeys who WE play on a bank holiday. And To answer your sarky question who we sign is up to paul wildman at this moment in time so I cant comment on that so ask him or syrup. ROBERT E LEE thats an interesting name of an historical figure who condoned racial segregation and slavery and sent hundreds of thousands of men to their deaths for his worthless cause .yes or no? And theres me thinking you townies were the Mr perfects of football clubs by having a non racist club policy. Your more of a [F******!!W***]*r than I gave you credit for.

Managers come and go in football thats life I'm afraid . But what happens when you boys have to let Jim go ? No dont tell me you start up yet another club so Jim keeps his job. Enfield Rovers is a good name i dont think you've had that one yet.

But not too many managers get the sack after winning promotion.

My previous question about when a decision was made to sack this particuler manager remains unanswered, probably because it wouldn't make very good reading. Hardly the way to attract talented applicants in the future.

There is no place for racism in life let alone football. This is the Southern League First Division and as you know Robert E Lee is a play on the word Southern to liven up an otherwise quiet website.

It is a fair point and I will change my id to disassociate from the innuendo!
