I would think if we kept the same side against Canvey then we may have a chance of getting a good result on Saturday and Monday.

 

We definatly played more as a unit with Manny up front. In pre-season, I thought Manny and McDonald wasn't going to be the best option up front but after Saturdays performance from both the strikers I think it may be the best option after all! <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

MacDonald and Grant too similar ie not a lot of pace and hold the ball up well. Manny is the cutting edge and as Macca3 is better than Grant the maths becomes simple. Always rated Manny, always will. Like Moussa, but with talent and goal scoring ability!!

Yeah I agree. Bowry played very well in pre-season and shows that he has experience at a higher level.

Agree again Jimmy. Immense perception reminds me alot of Surey (no joke!!). Doesnt do anything out of the ordinary just puts his foot on it and knows exactly where everyone is. I would stick with it and make Jay fight to get back in?! Bowry is needed in there . . .

Yeh Bowry looks good. That's why Bowry played football league football of course. He's obviously got a great knowledge of the game.

 

I'd say stick with the same team but maybe Jay might knab the centre spot at the expense of Drury. With Slatter back on the wing. But personally I thought Slatter in the centre offered a better attacking option. But if we stick with that Jay's gonna be left out, which I don't want to see. Of course, with a deal of imagination, and an attacking attitide, why not plump for a 3-5-2 line up, sacrificing MaCarthy for Saunders.

Using Bowry and Jay as defensive 'holding' players, the line up could be:

 

McShane

Protheroe Ross Skinner

Bowry Saunders

Slatter Drury Jackson

Manny Charlie.

 

The only thing I would worry about would be the lack of height at the back. But with the supply cut off from midfield Cambridge wouldn't (hopefully) get in many crosses.

I think them 3 at the back would leave us too exposed. I could see Proths and Skinns getting pulled out of position.
