3rd round draw

Hmm, maybe I wrote that with a bit of memory lapse...

The game vs Exeter at home was OK, but we should have won, and it was only the 3rd round, but the 1 round proper of the FA cup was a good achivement.

But all the minor cups then?

Hi Gazza.

We put 5 past Delroy the other evening and I thought of you lot. And then today. Last out of the hat/velvet bag/funny looking plastic thingy and a visit to Fortress Scraley Road and The Mighty Swifts. It could have been you, indeed.

Fate plays a hand, Gazza. It was last year that the F.A. decided that we had played an inelligible player in our F.A. Cup game there after an appeal for a stewards by the Heybridge Officials. Our Chairman's irritation was directed at the Officials of The Mighty Urchins [a long story, that] and the situation wasn't helped when the Swifts lost to Yeading who drew Newcastle, our Chairman's first club since he was knee-high.

Then there was the play-off win the season before. Mixed memories. There's a bit of previous between the two boardrooms according to rumour but I have no doubt that we mere mortals will be shown the usual Essex hospitality.

Anyway, Gazza. Is there anything 'on' in North Essex today? Young Farmers ploughing contest, that sort of thing? International agricultural implement show?

The reason I ask is simply this. You have spotted how 4237 new names have been registered on the Braintree forum in the last 3 weeks. The draw was announced by Iron Webbo with the usual quote from George at about 11.30, since when, silence. No-one has posted anything. Perhaps they are in awe of the visit of Hayes or perhaps, Fatboy has his mind on other things.

We were shown some nice hospitality when we went there last weekend...Watch 'em...they do crumple when touched but love a follow through boot when they tackle....

Coo, The Young Farmers Association is popular these days!!! I suppose when it's winter, you have to have something to while away the long winter days and it beats watching sh*t dry...or does it?

Then again, it has been noted that all the new posters on their forum has a certain style....

Peter, I wish you well at Heybridge...stuff 'em for us...

AFF

When you speak of the Braintree forum you are obviously speaking about the one on here (Fans Focus) and the not the original Braintree fans forum, The original does indeed have posts about the trophy draw. Why do you assume only Fans focus hosts websites and forums?

G'day cobber.

I assume nothing. I have made an occasional visit to the other one, actually. Lots of pop-ups and rather slow but well worth the wait.

I was merely remarking that approximately 4237 new 'names' registered on this Braintree forum in the couple of weeks before your F.A. Cup game with Crawley. "Good luck to the Iron from me. I'm 97 years old, I don't know how to switch on a computer but I can still work out how to do an Iron Avatar and send my good wishes to the boys on Saturday". "Up the Iron for the Crawley game". "I can't speak highly enough about the transformation in the club since the new chairman arrived and put so many resources into the club. He's the Roman Abramovich of Non League Football". "I'm an eight year old girl and here's my essay on the greatest manager the world has ever seen". "I prayed to a photograph of the Chairman and my broken leg healed instantly. He should be beatified". Etc. Etc. Ad nauseam.

I thought that it was fanastic to see the club going places and attracting new fans from all walks of life who clearly found the Cressing Road experience uplifting. Great to see so many people registering.

I was somewhat surprised that their enthusiasm did not appear to have been maintained relative to the clash with Hayes in the F.A. Trophy, however, as the board on here was strangely silent following the cup draw.

As an aside, I should add that I was disappointed at the thousands of cynical regulars who smelt a rat and felt that the whole thing was set-up from a single source. I don't know anyone who registers lots of different names on message boards. Why would they do that? Well, actually, I do know someone. Aaagh. I see where they're all coming from now.

Anyway. Let's move on Oz. From one of your other posts, I see that you're a cobber of Mark (Flag) Braintree. If you are in touch with t'lad, please give him my best wishes.

Isn't there a illness which is attributable to someone who does something like like that? Not that I'm suggesting that these are not real people and don't exist....

I would imagine any reasonable Braintree supporter would be embarrased by this

I hope we never upset you

Hi TC.

There are good people on the terraces at Cressing Road, by and large. If anybody is ever really typical, they are pretty typical. It is a little rural out there, but they are Non-League football fans, and I enjoyed my couple of brief visits to their clubhouse. Three points always makes the one for the road taste better, of course!

And New Lodge? Good people, too. Some of ours have had minor run-ins on these boards with some of yours but nothing serious. I haven't had the pleasure of meeting the Chairman, mind, I don't even know what the chap looks like! Good reports from others whose views I respect, though. I wasn't very keen on the last bloke. He always looked a little shady to me. He was supposed to be a mate of Fatboy.

Oh, by the way. Upset? Moi?
