FT vs Worthing

Our boys showed great character today especially in the second half after playing with 10 men for 65 minutes and deserved the point.

I hope Warren Ryan divvies up his wages amongst the other players because they did his work. It seems that the "plenty of ability but....." comments when he signed have some credence. A three game ban coming up when the midfield cupboard is not exactly full is the last thing we need. I hope Warren can learn from this as he is clearly a good player and we need him on the pitch.

Great leadership from Trotty and Collins was immense in midfield. We have to keep believing. On this showing we can be in the mix for a play-off slot.

If there ever was a moral victory in football, this was it.

Warren Ryan deserved to be sent off but so did their No. 5 who's intent , when they were under pressure, was to try and get another one of our players sent off!!!

My opinion of the first half was that Worthing shaded it...just. A couple of chances went begging and once again "Wafford" doesn't score against us. The thing was, we still didn't make it easy for 'em then with 10 on the park...so I think you can say that we were building for a decent second half then.

With 10 men facing 11, you expect the 10 to tire but that wasn't the case in the second...I thought it was the other way around. The lads were relentless. Worthing punt the ball out only to find it coming back at 'em...every time and when they weren't punting it out we were putting together some delightful football at times. I thought it was only a matter of time (unless of course that most elusive of friends this season, lady luck, was going to make another no show), for us to equalise. And we did, through Robin Trott. Soon after we could've nicked the game either through Hockers or Poole....

A brilliant fighting display and one the lads can be proud of. I would agree with what has been said about Warren here but we have been warned by other supporters on other sites...and I believe we supporters were asking for a talented, hard man in the middle...this is what happens when the red mist comes down. Warren needs to control that in future.

A special mention for Trotty and Collins. Justin said that you know what you get with Robin and he is a leader anyway. I thought when he was given the captains armband yesterday when Warren got sent off, there was a something "bigger" about him throughout the game. Dave Collins was a giant in the middle of the park in the second half and certainly was my man of the match. Churlish to single these two players out as they all deserve an for all the lads playing so well.

After a brilliant performance against Windsor it was disappointing that Wozza reacted in that way. Perhaps he should be fined and stripped of the stand in captaincy. Trotty was being shoved and elbowed all game, along with other players, but they didn't react. However Wozza is clearly a quality player and I'm sure he'll learn from it. Agree with everyone else that Collins and Trott were outstanding, also thought Millard dealt well with most things in goal. The linesman on the far side was abysmal and clearly had no idea what he was doing. I was dead in line with their goal and it was a stone cold offside. There were some offsides, which looked on that were given in our favour. We were the better team with 10 and at least deserved our point. If we show that level of commitment for the rest of the season I can't see why we won't make the playoffs.

I was absolutely bloody furious with Warren Ryan yesterday, and would have been more so had the other ten players shown guts and determination to get us a draw. For the captain to react like he did and go to headbutt someone is idiotic at best. The 5 was a cheating **** and made sure he got Ryan sent off by reacting ridiculously when he hadnt been touched. However, that doesnt excuse Ryan, to go to headbutt someone whether you make contact or not, deserves a sending off.

The performance was spirited yesterday, but wasnt particularly good, far too many stray passes and we didnt make the keeper work until the final flurry. Felt like we would win it at the end though, keeper made two very good saves from Hockers and Poole. I thought Millard did well in goal. His kicking is poor, but he made several good saves, and they kept us in the match, otherwise Trotts goal would have been just a consolation.

Well done to ten men on getting us a draw that felt like a win, and i hope they all had a right go at Warren Ryan when they got in the dressing room.

I fully concur with jl’s summery, accurate and to the point as always.

I am also very disappointed with Warren’s sending off. In a few short games we have seen the good and bad of Warren, the good Warren is a great addition to out team, he’s direct, aggressive and a good player, but yesterday he let a lot of people down.

He let down his team mates because as jl said, for ¾ of the game they had to do his work. He let down his Manager because he was trusted to lead the team and given the captaincy. He has let down the club because for 3 & ¾ games he is unable to fulfil his duties. We are woefully short in midfield at the moment due to injuries, and Warren has added to our problems. I too hope that this is the first and last red for Warren, because the good Warren is certainly a player that I want at this club.

Our lads were magnificent for us yesterday; we came back from a goal down, with just ten men, against a big strong experienced 11 Worthing, and ground them to submission. The first half Worthing had the chances to put the game beyond our reach, the second half we just worked so hard, pended them in their own half, and got what we deserved. If we had won that game it would not have been a surprise to anyone who was there. I must add that I thought it a very bold move to leave two up front when we went down to ten, and then I don’t think too many managers would have taken off a defender to put on another striker and go three up front.

But on reflection, that’s what Billericay is all about, bold, brave, and we try to win every game, there’s no settling fr a draw at this club, and I like it that way.

Last point, It was mentioned to me yesterday that we, supporters and management alike, have become to focused on the ref and linesman, when we should be concentrating on the team. I agree.

Again on refection, our ten man team ground out that result almost entirely on their own, the collective we, were more interested in the poor decisions made by officials, and did not give enough support to the team during the game. The fact is, we have no control over what a ref sees or gives, so it would be beneficial to use that energy in positive support to the team. I’m not criticising the support yesterday, just making the point that were all guilty of not realising the enormity of what our lads were achieving during the game.

Hopefully Warren Ryan will take on board the events of yesterday and realise that as captain, he should be above that sort of thing. Quite how the number 5 was allowed to stay on the pitch for what was an ourageous piece of cheating is beyond me.

With 10 men, I thought we were superb against a strong Worthing side. It's probably unfair to pick out players when the whole team deserves praise, but Collins, Trott and Sappleton were immense (alright I did it!). I thought the support stayed with the side all the way through the game, but there are times when the refs don't half give you the ache though!

Do we know when Ryan's suspension kicks in?

Normally we come on here for a bit of a debate, to disagree with each other, dispute other's observations on the game and generally just argue the point, but I can think I can honestly say here I totally agree with EVERYTHING written above here. Plus I'd like to give a "Pat" on the back to Sapps for his total non-reaction to having at least two Worthing thugs punch him in "that handbags", stepping away "hands-up" admitting to a bad tackle but not getting drawn into anything silly. Warren Ryan I hope you watched and learnt.

Pehaps I did't make my point clear. Yes, the support was great yeasterday, no problems with our supportes whatsoever.

An observation was made to me, I thought about it, and agreed, at times I myself, the bench, and the suporters, get a little to engrossed in what the ref is, or isin't doing, when that should be secondary to what our team is doing.

And of course your right Ryan, it's a lot easier said than done.

I agree about getting to involved with the ref's and linesman but i thought they where very weak yesterday, the goalie was taking a minumum of 1 minute for every goal kick and freekick he was taking, if the ref would of booked him straight away it would not of continued through out the game but a well earned point for the blues and lets hope this is the sort of turning point we need.

Without doubt our best second half of the season?

Nothing to add to you guys on the performance except to say well done to those lads who "played" the full game. I think Warren had one of those rushes of blood, (that unfourtunately) everyone gets - Yes, me and any other human being gets. The problem with a high tempo sport is simply it pushes the blood faster for both players and fans. We as fans are just as guilty when we berate a ref or lino. Some things are just unexplainable. Some players walk away from those sort of incidents but at some point everyone has a rush of blood. Not making excuses just trying to balance it. Anyway, it was a top performance. Cheers lads.

i think what annoyed me about the sending off was that for me it wasnt a sudden rush of blood. It seemed to go on for a while and for me warren had time to walk away but still got involved. As for their player, well he cheated, but as much as i despise it, its very much part of the game. You seek to gain an advantage all the time, and Warren made it too easy for them to gain such an advantage. Im sure he will learn and i think its for these such instances that Justin made him captain, by that I mean give him the responsibility and it may make him think twice before reacting. He let everyone down, but i would like to think we wont see him sent off for such a thing again.

Dont think Trotty's goal has been given enough praise!! what an fffing strike that was. Row Z or glory that one, luckily for us he took the net off.

superb battling display by the lads, makes you wonder what we could have done with 11. As soon as we went to 10 men I would have taken a draw but the fact we could have won is a credit to the lads.

Lets hope we can produce the same next sat in what is bound to be a grudge match.

well done.

Very much agree. Also, the save that Millard made which would have put the game beyond saviour. Spoke to Ross before the game and he is very much upbeat about the fact we have strong players returning in the coming weeks which "could" have a very large impact on the season post xmas.
