Ricay 1 ETU 3

East Thurrock deserved the win ....good luck to them and well played.

The outfield players just never got it going today.

So it's the mighty Iron on Tuesday, I'm thoroughly looking forward to this one.

I’m reliably informed that Nappy has volunteered to do the cooking for both Boardroom and players <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" />

I think some of the players might we well advised to read Matt Jones' comments in the "from the dugout" column re competition for places - when everybody's available some of yesterday's team won't be in the side if they don't buck their ideas up.

One other point - we badly missed Warren yesterday with Leon and Simmo both looking no more than 60% fit. I hope he realises how much his stupid sending off has hurt the team.

On a positive note it was good to see some of the "walking wounded" getting back in the squad. As I said above Leon obviously not fully fit, but hopefully just a couple of games and we'll be looking a lot stronger.

A very poor display. What makes it worse is we were beaten by an average team. This result now leaves us closer on points to the relegation places than it does to the play off's. With Braintree and Hampton looming the lads need to ensure they dont play like they did on saturday too many more times. Before anyone starts that I'm being negative, I'm not, Im just stating a fact. Easy to blame the injuries but surely fit players or even those 80% fit are able to track back and defend? Also, Nathan needs a goal badly, I think its the middle of october since he last scored, a run of ten games I think.

very dissapointed. Agree with Simon that we badly missed Warren as we just were not competing in midfield. Thurrock looked like a well balanced side physically, by that i mean they had height at the back, centre mid and up top. No disrepect to Gamo or Collins but they cant be expected to be winning balls in the air.

I guess injuries will always affect smaller squads like we both have. Mind you we turned in the performance of the season on saturday.

Take heed from this as well.....we got stuffed by ETU and we havent lost a league game since then.

Maybe you can have a 1 or 2 game unbeaten run hopefully (until 2.1.06!!)

An extremely flat performance. There was just no sparkle, and no imagination. Last couple of games have shown a desire to compete when the chips are down. Saturday was limp. End of the day we were undoubtedly beaten by the better team on the day. Yes, there is a long long way to go. But, we do not wanna keep saying that as the weeks go by.

We have a tough run up to January. Braintree/Hampton/Yes, Redbridge as they got a win at last! and then Chelmsford - Lets hope the players understand that constructive critisism is not having a go but will give them a massive gee up. And the ref - I thought he had a decent game.

Good to see a couple of injuries on the road to recovery too.

the thing thats starting to bug me is that we all keep putting a lot down to injuries but how many of the team thats been starting lately wouldnt be involved anyway? Im not questioning the players comitment here as they have battled away well, but we are running out of games to keep up. Not so many weeks back we had games in hand but we havent that luxury now either. Personally, I think our most important player is out and its not through injury (warren). Take the back four, if Macca is fit who would you change? my point is there isnt anyone playing at the back that is only playing due to an injury. Maybe the lack of competition may not be keeping them on their toes but I dont see that. Up front we have Hockers, Nathan and Tom. We have no other forwards to push these three (and I dont mean lads from the under 18's). Last season we had about 5 strikers, this we have 3 and to be fair to danny he is still recovering, tom is gaining experience and nathan needs a goal.

For me, midfield is the problem, but again of the lads that started I think only simmo wouldnt get a start if ross was fully fit. I appreciate some of these lads may well be playing with injuries and still getting fitness back, but I think that its fair to say that unless we get points between now and the chelmsford game that we can kiss goodbye to the playoffs.

ETU Game: injury and suspended list.

Jamie Dormer

Ross wareham

Leon Hunter

Dave McSweeny

Gary Henty

George Lay

John Simmons

Warren Ryan suspended

Pat Sappleton suspended

Leon Simmo and Ross were not fit but had to play to make the numbers, and we had to borrow a Centre half for one game.

Of the above, I believe if fit or available, they would all have been in the squad for Saturday’s game. Odinarily Leon & Simmo would not have made the bench (Injured)and Ross would have got about ten mins max.

And before our resident cut and paster blames me for making excuses, I'm not, just informing Paul of the latest info.

That aside, with a couple of exceptions the team that played Saturday did not perform well and ETU deserved the win. We need to score goals.
