Billericay 1 Braintree 1

A fair result with us just shading the first half but Braintree scoring with a breakaway goal at the end of the first half. Second was a fairly scrappy affair with both teams cancelling each other out.

Ricky Millard made a superb effort to keep out a penalty, which was soft but no complaints. From then on we pushed forward but found the Braintree defence difficult to breakdown (as it always is when they're 1 zip up). Close on full time, some pressure on the Braintree goal, ball comes out to the edge of the area and Matt game was on hand to shoot home the equaliser.

A much better performance from the lads... Onwards and upwards to Hampton.

(Note to my stalker on the Ryman Forum - If you want to cut and paste what I type...paste the whole thing...cheers - saves you looking like a complete twat).

Can't disagree, as you say a fair result if Alex had put the penelty away who knows another away win, but as i've always said all you can ask is they hit the target and if the keeper guesses the right way the keeper becomes a hero, not the taker a villan.

Must give a mention to the lady in the tea hut, as i got there at 6.10pm and with me driving tonight could not have an alcholic drink i was in need of a coffee, she informed me they were not open yet but still went on to make me my coffee (bless her heart). And also to the two ladies dishing up the chilli in the clubhouse afterwards ,very friendly and most welcoming.

These people i have mentioned are a credit to your club, please pass on my thanks.

Oh and yes ok........the music was not bad either. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/top.gif" alt="" />

agree it was a fair result although if they had scored the pen it would have been a different outsome. Thought their keeper made a great save from Nathan early on. The pen was soft, dont think any of the braintree lads were even appealing for it. Great save fro millard though.

There was some pretty strong tackles going in and I think both teams gave as good as they got which was good to see when you consider how young some of our team is. Their sending off was needless when you consider how late in the game it was. Dont think it sets a good example when a manager goes out of his box to shake the sent off players hand, but thats Borgy for you i suppose and it wouldnt be normall to have 11 a side at full time!

Gamo's goal was a screamer, and to be fair so was theirs. For me, the only down side was that we really didnt create many chances again in the last third but will credit the braintree defence for that on this occasion.

Well done lads, think we have earnt some respect back after that horror last season.

I thought we played very well and Matt deserved his goal for giving 100% right through the game. Looked very solid at the back and that must be partly because Ricky Millard is settling in well now, great save from an iffy penalty.

Thought Tarkan worked his socks off and coped with a constant shuffling of position as we substituted. Does anybody share my view that with his creative talent it would be good to see him in central midfield, at least until we get back to full strength in that department.

Certainly agree with the comments concerning Tarkan BUT Macca was no where near match fit and did well for the time he was on the pitch.

Gameo was working like a trojan in the middle but lets not forget Collins. He worked his socks off in the first half as well but like Gameo is an attacking midfielder. We need someone who can hold the midfield and protect the back four. A rough and tumble, hard tackling, hard working midfielder.

The back four played well and apart for the lapse of concentration when they scored the opening goal, looked to be able to get back to being stingy again. On the point of chances, I didn't think Braintree had that many either, so that would prove my point. Lets hope we can get back to denying chances like last season, as that gives our midfield and front two something to build on.

The frustrating thing for me was, our boys that got the ball out on the wing, wanted that extra touch before they crossed the ball, giving their defence a chance to recover and defend. Confiedence or not, we need to get those crosses in earlier to give Hockkers, Nathan and Tom a chance at getting a goal. On a couple of occassions, when we broke down the wing it was two on two in the box but the cross didn't come and it gave Braintree the chance to get numbers back.

We're getting our injured players back and when we're up to full squad, what a pool of players we have to pick from. I expect us to put the pre Xmas run to bed and push on and start challenging for thos play off places.

Gazza re the crossing issue, couldnt agree more with you but i dont think either Tarks or Ross are natural wingers so crossing is not a strong point for us. Kieran last season had a great right foot for crosses and we have missed some one who can beat a man and then deliver an early cross like you said.

A very good performance last night, it’s put a spring in my step today.

Let’s hope the lads can take that same level of concentration and determination into Saturdays game Vs Hampton.

I was asked my MOM last night, and was unable to give an answer because there were several contenders out there, it could easily go to 3 or 4 different players, having thought about it, I still can’t pick.

Well done Lads, you showed good attitude, and that was reflected by a good solid performance.

Agreed tc. I understand that you've had your injury probs of late, but a repeat of that attitude and effort from your boys in the weeks and months ahead will get you back at the top.

I was obviously disappointed to concede so late but it was no more than you deserved. I always felt there was a good chance the equaliser would come.

The hospitality was, once again, warm and professional and the soup at half-time and hot meal at full time were most welcome. A lot could learn from how you do things.

Nice too to have time to chat with Gazza before the game. The lad seemed pleased when you scored!

Good luck at Hampton on Saturday - might see you on the M25 as we wander around to Walton.

If I do have a fault it would be the...er...excitement voiced when we score but I can't see anything wrong with that...Supporters seem to enjoy it as well...

The Queen track was played but you were at the bar chatting...

I hope the other musical delights titilated and were enjoyed...(No reference to Black Eyed Peas there).

Yes Gazza, I'll give you that one. The way you shout-announced the equaliser I think, perhaps, emphasised how pleased you were with it!

Thanks for the Queen track, but being both Secretary & Chairman last night did limit the time left to enjoy your pre-match entertainment.

Anyway, did I hear the first few notes of some agricultural type music after the final whistle?
