officials have given it as 2998. i read in the match thread that a chelmo fan says it was 4012. On there forum some are claiming 5,000 even 6,000 with 100's locked out. Have chelmo been telling porkies about the attendance?

it was really 1998 & they were only trying to impress their old landlords. If there had been more it would have taken until 4.00pm to get them all in.

I can't see that they would be so stupid as to knowingly allow a crowd way in excess of their permitted maximum - especially when you consider the presence of council officials and coppers who would both have a say in there application for safety certificates etc!

 

That said I was somewhat surprised to see the stewards allowing Chelmsford fans to drink bottles of beer on the terraces - they would look pretty foolish with a shiny new clubhouse and no license!

Didnt look more than 3000 there to me, especially when you consider that the large main stand has a quoted capacity of 1100
