In Defence of SSS.

The only real game we were ALL probably in agreement on this season was that magnificent win against the league leaders at the time Hampton & Richmond 3-2. It is games like this that bring us all out in positive talk and Seasidesteve was also in agreement on this.Seems with our elation we had overlooked his positive comments on the game so I thought I would resurrect them for you. Lets stop putting him and others down who have different views after poor performances or results that some are unhappy with. SSS has always maintained that he wishes for nothing more than to praise the team and this particular game proves that he is true to his word.A couple of quotes from him after the game are as follows:

1)"very enjoyable game and we played well causing them loads of problems.much better without standen.praise must go to charlie mitten for playing with what looked like a very painfull injury, well done all"

2)"Not far off the best 4 2 seasons".

Lets remember that performances dictate our views and though perhaps Steve does put down decent but not as good performances as this one he is true to his word in that he will praise if he deems it fit to do so and its warranted,in his mind.So can we cut a bit of slack with him and appreciate his input, good or bad or bad more than good, whichever way you wish to see it.

Regardless of performances good or bad he is still one of us who goes to games and supports our club.In fact with his negative comments seemingly being more often than others he in fact should be praised even MORE than those that see good in everything because it would be easier for him, moreso,to stay away.I have every respect for anyone who follows the club regardless of their views. When he feels it right to comment with positivity and praise he will.He has proved that.

Sorry Steve if I have brought up the subject of yourself but I just thought the record should be put straight. There is a lot of your frustration in me too and others, who wish to speak as you do sometimes but just dont want to stir things unintentionally or get a come back because of it.Rather than to speak their mind they keep it shut or agree with others who think differently to you. They know who they are!!

I guess I am making this "your turn" this week STEVE. No doubt mine will follow again at some stage.

Am in agreement and I'd say I can also be negative. Ive been quite negative about yesterday's performance but I was positive 2 weeks ago. I think the disappointment for me is that there was very little progress from 2 weeks ago and we are fast running out of time and games. I saw progress in the Staines game but I didnt see as much as I expected yesterday. Maybe my expectations are too high but we do NEED wins soon. Thats a requirement whether its too early or not for the team.

I know what you are trying to say Cookie and as I have said on occasions it takes more courage to be a coward than a hero.

What I mean by this is to speak as a lone voice will always provoke the sheep into a baying mob.

I know SSS does not need me to speak out on his behalf but I have always supported his right to have views which he belives in and I have always supported the fundemental right to free speach.

Keep it up Seasidesteve the world would be very dull without the likes of you and June. I know you are at opposite spectrums but who cares at least both of you speak with your money at the GATE (pun intended).

Wrong!! SSS does not stir things up. He says what he sees.It is OTHERS that stir things up by not accepting his point of view.

He is not here to deliberately stir things up I'm sure(even though at this time I know not of him, though I am sure I will when I meet him) or create waves as I and others arent intending to on occasions. He is one of a few that are just being honest with his views. Negative responses on this forum will not make matters worse with the players as neither do positive ones create improvement. The players will know if they are playing well or not without us reminding them of it, either way,& I am positive that they will only improve themselves because they want to and not because of whats said on here.

He goes to the games the same as we all do and gives his support there in person and with his cash and he is as important a fan as any other.

Lets not forget that when we are keen to put him down on his perception of things....on a forum

Everyone is entitled to their opinion if they go to games. I dont think its stirring if people want to think different to me but others on here obviously do take offence is people think different. Some people are happy to accept a players performance and hope he improves and others want to make it known they are not happy so those who can act do act.

MOST of my views! You little sh**. l.o.l.

Even after speaking out sometimes even I dont agree with some of my comments.Weird that isnt it? Still, probably done in the spur of the moment eh! How many times have we all done the same, might I ask.

Do you not think those that DONT create are not thinking the same.It is THOSE that seem to take umbrage in the first place, and start the war of words.By accepting, respecting AND discussing those negatives is the way to go.Lightening up with things dosent even come into it.Finally, why is it that those that tell their story,in truth as they see it,are talking rubbish.Sorry but you are way out there John and if you dont mind me saying so,and even if you do,you are disrespecting your fellow supporter in his beliefs and views. It may not be to your liking but in many cases it may well be the truth no matter how much you may not want to hear it.

As cookie said what is the point of a forum if we all agreed on everything? A forum is a platform for debate. I think many points SSS has raised this season are very valid ones. It keeps life interesting in fact more entertaining than much of the fare that has been on offer at HDP this season!

i cant understand why all this interest.im just another fan who pays his 8 quid and wants to be entertained.allwe want is a team to be proud of and a decent ground to watch them in.its nice to come home from a game and tell family and friends what a great afternoon youve had and that they should come with you next time.we have been throu everything in the last few years and hopefully come out of the other end now.i know things dont happen over night but we are talking 4 years here.im sorry if some of my posts are over the top i will try and moderate them but will still say what i see and what many others who dont come on here also say.there are encouraging signs both on and off field so come on gate onward and upward please

You will find, Tony and Steve, that like with us, a couple of good performances soon restore the faith after poor games. We had a (major) blip against Boreham Wood, but have recovered with a great team display against Canvey, a gritty draw against Cambridge and have signed some potentially good looking players.

Order has been restored here at Stonebridge Road, as it wqill with yourselves at HDP with a solid spine in place with Trott, Brayley and Hockton.

I have no problems with that Gary. I am positive with the new recruits that things will begin to knit together and its then that those who criticise now, me included, will also be doing the praising alongside everyone else. Until that time comes along however some of us talk about what IS and not what it isnt.

We are all still in the same boat, its just that those on one side of it are rocking it a bit more than others, but doing it without the threat of capsize.(if you see what I mean). We shouldnt be cast over the side just because we are rocking the boat more than others.(if you understand my meaning).

Anyway I think the point has now been made on this for now.

You think you have problems!

Can we loan you a couple of spectators?

We have a couple of senile old goats purporting to be Fleet supporters, who stand in front of the club shop and spew out nothing but bilious comments and harping criticism at anyone in red!!

When we scored against Canvey, we all rounded on these old buzzards, took the "micky" and shouted, "bet that has spoilt your weekend"!!

And these old farts get in on concessions as well!!

Its about constructive, funny and sometimes annoying posts that joe public feel they need to write at that time be it good or bad.Or they could just waffle on like me,see you saturday.
