I would just like to say how annoyed and disgusted I am with the way Clacton Town FC and its management has acted with regards the friendly that was arranged and then cancelled.

 

To firstly move the game 2 days before to a sports centre 'pitch' because theirs was not ready after we had arranged travel with players and supporters was bad enough. Then to cancel it the day before at 3pm with no chance of us arranging another game is a disgusting way to treat another club.

 

The worse thing in all this was that the management was uncontactable other than by email which is ridiculous. I phoned in excess of 30 times and the phone was never answered.

 

It is no way to conduct themselves as a semi pro football club and neither is it a way to treat other clubs. Some of our players had travelled the night before and this has turned out to be an expensive and wasted trip for them.

 

An appropriate apology by the management by phone would at least made it more acceptable. If this is the way Clacton Town FC conducts itself I'm surprized it is still going.

 

If any ESL clubs have games planned with Clacton Town I would either arrange another game, be prepared for the game to be cancelled or get assurances that the game is on before travelling.

 

I thought it was funny that they didn't have the game scheduled on their forum but I thought it was just an oversight.

 

To say I'm annoyed is an understatement but I suppose I'll learn from this and in future get games with more professional, organised and better run clubs.

Not unknown for pre-season friendlies at Clacton to be different than expected. A few seasons ago, Romford only found out on arrival that the main pitch was not ready and the game was moved to a pitch about a quarter of a mile from the clubhouse. It was just like playing in a park. Scorching heat without access to running water etc and getting ice to place on an injury involved a half mile round walk.

 

Still at least we got a game!

A poor show Clacton most ESL clubs struggle financially but would never treat another team this badly.

If any other ESL teams play in Clacton in the future. I'm sure Boromans Mum would put them up for their stay there <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
