Enfield FC abuse

Today was a disgrace; the Enfield supporters abuse and taunts reached new levels with 'you black bas***d' to our goaley just before half time. I overheard a lot of people mentioning the foul mouthed behaviour; its just not acceptable no matter who they are.

I've decided to complain to the league being as our stewards seemed unable/unwilling to stop this nonsense.

I have only known 'Town' in Enfield, so I don't know all of the history, but this is madness, as a family club, we cannot tolerate this disgusting behaviour - even if its not 'politic' to do anything about it (in the case of EFC).

As a family club, we have a responsibility to our young supporters and families who come to Brimo.

I will let you know how the complaint goes.

I was very pleased that Town fans remained silent and dignified when faced with the 'Traitor' chants from the EFC fans.

I myself decided before the match to cut all communication with all EFC fans, both on these forums and in person.

Regarding todays match. To be fair, its only about six EFC fans that shout obsenities and engage in ignorant chanting (coincidently it seems to be those of a 'wide' persuasion.Just a coincidence i'm sure).Anyway, most of the other EFC fans are fine.

I agree with your point about the stupid few but surely the stewards should have done something about it? I spoke to the stewards and they seemed just a little reticent in sorting the problem.

I dont care who it is, ours, theirs, (the ref!), if they are acting like this, they should be ejected from the ground. A show of determination should put these morons off bothering us again.

We are better than this, we must make a stand in actions as well as words.

...and he probably walks to the ground with his plastic bag, sandwiches and still moans about the cost of the entrance fee and programmes.

Get a life Biggun and a deaf aid and move on.

You lost to your local rivals, they have bragging rights for the time being.

This is football mate so move on....there is always another day.

I dont get it, I never noticed or heard anything any diffrent to any other Saturday, both sets of supporters sang humerous insulting chants to each other for 90 mins, there was swearing from both sets of fans but nothing aggresive to any individual & certainly nothing that has not been heard before.

Bigun I think you may need to look at a few of our own fans before worrying about others language if it bothers you that much, personally I was too busy watching the match.

Generally, our fans do not chant/sing obsenities. It is when a decision doesn't go their way that they let rip.

In the defence of the EFC fans re someone's earlier comment about racsist chanting, they were singing fat and not black.

I am an Enfield FC fan, sadly not a regular these days but I was at the game yesterday and standing behing the goal. I can categorically state that there was no racist chanting at any point from any of our fans. The chant was the ever-popular and somewhat ironic given the ample gorth of some of our support "you fat [****!!****]".

I used to watch the Es regulary home and away when we were at Southbury Road and even during the Borehamwood era and was surprised at the over-reaction to the chanting yesterday as it was no more or less foul mouthed than it has ever been. In fact there was no more or less swearing than at any football match that I have ever attended. It isn't the ballet you know! Football fans swear, get used to it!

I witnessed one of the stewards asking a few of our number to limit the swearing at half time on the way to The Downs Bar and fair play if they have received complaints. Our support was a little less sweary after half-time in light of that. I noticed however that several Town Fans were swearing in their chants in the second half, were they also threatened with removal from the ground I wonder? I doubt it and people that live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.

I'm sorry that I started this thread! :-)

I accept swearing is a common feature of modern football (I can swear with the best of them), I just think yesterday was over the top.

There is also no need to make personal attacks; if the EFC (or Rumford) fans can't accept my point of view, they dont have to come to this forum and read them!

In answer to the other comment; I dont care who they are, ours, theirs (or the ref!) if they cannot behave reasonably, chuck them out.

I've said it all.

Well said, I was one of the lad's of the "WIDE" kind singing and chanting yesterday behind the goal and again not one racist comment was said!!! Also We took the mick out of fit's as well with the same chant. Come on guys some of your fans were no better than us. Yesterday with songs and chants with swear words in I would call a big draw!!!!! We were asked to clam down and we did.

The bad language was coming from both ends ,your chief steward did speak to two E's fans at half time ,The tall young fella at the Town end was fairly colourful with his also tha bloke next to him so I dont see what you have to complain about . Read the Mrs Happy posts also Gazza's Both sets of supporters were as much at fault as the other. Also I have never heard racist chanting from any E's supporters ,you need to have your ears syringed mate.
