racing pidgeons....missing strips and young gulls...

first the pidgeon arrived....a lost racer well looked after and ringed up..they lose their way sometimes and this one decided that he had found a hotel for the night...he certainly didn't understand english as he crapped all over the trauma blanket when asked not too so the hastily convened pidgeon committee decided he was french and named him sacha....after much discussion surrounding nuts...grass seed and air rifles he was adopted...

whilst this drama was unfolding the canvey kit went walkabout about and was eventually discovered at chelmsford... <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />....quickly rerouted it arrived with minutes to spare and the game commenced on the emerald green carpet under the twinkling floods of bridge avenue.......a lively and keen gull line up was no match however for the rampant urchin side egged on by the noisiest eastside I have seen for 2 years and keen to exorcise the demons of saturdays fandango...the crowed edged over 350 by commencement of play...

3-0 at half time with goals from cross (2) and a janney penalty and a cross hat trick completed on the 70 minute....(his first ever in senior football which deservedly won him the MOM award)full marks to the young canvey team who never stopped running and enjoyed the surface with some fine passing but the night belonged to cross..the urchins and the boisterous eastside.

sacha meanwhile was perched on Isaacs railings blistfully fast asleep well before the final whistle with one leg cocked up and his head under his arm....

And it certainly wasn't Mouldy Ol' Dough!

Yes the pigeon is now a great mascot, perhaps he could lead the team out, anyway a great evening if you were an Urchin.

Full credit to those Canvey fans that were there and of course Yellow in all his pride and glory, on home soil again.

Must admit Paula took it very well, once again nice to see you kidda and of course we had the matchwinner in the real Gary Cross, "he's here he's there".

We now look forward to the draw on Thursday and then of course the FA Cup, let's see 300 Urchins at Oakside on Saturday, you can't beat the Cup!
