Final attendance

Picture the scene. Canvey's last home game of the season. Three points needed to take the title. Making allowances for the fair weather supporters would anybody like to predict the size of the crowd? Any advance on our current average of 574?

N.B. No guesses if Aldershot are the last visitors. The ground isn't big enough!!!

At the moment Enfield are scheduled as our last home game and could possibly be our final game of the season if Kingstonian don't sort out their debts and are thrown out of the league.

It all depends on the scenario. If we need to win to secure promotion expect a fairly big crowd maybe 4 figures. If we need to win just to take things to the final day (assuming Kingstonian are still in existance) I think we'll probably get about 800.

If you look at the scenario on the penultimate Saturday of last season Gravesend went into these games knowing that a win for them and Canvey failing to win would give them the title. As a result over 1600 watched them at Stonebridge Road against Boreham Wood expecting them to win the title.

We had to win to guarantee things going to the final day, we got over 800 for our match against Sutton.

Unfortunately things went awry with ourselves drawing and Gravesend losing.

If we go into the final day leading Shots and knowing a victory could make us champions expect the 'world and his wife' to turn up expecting a championship party.

We still need to arrange our Billericay home game, so that could be on the Tueday after Enfield, (or St. Albans or next Tuesday).

I've said before wouldn't it be great if we didn't have to play Kingstonian, but Aldershot needed a win to secure the Championship, (which they don't). Park Lane would be packed as memories of Braintree/Cheshunt flood back to alcohol induced minds!!!

But it is a long way to go yet and even if we beat Aldershot, they only need to win all their other games to secure promotion. Now I know it is highly unlikely for them to win all of their remaining games, but it goes the same for us as well. We need the Shots to slip up!!!

Oh this brings back such good memories! Always look out for your results, i think after the other season you should be up here instead of Aldersh*t! Best of luck over the rest of the season, I think we will be here next season still, we are to good to go down, so dont get hanging around in the ryman for us. Hope to see you next season one way or another.

Should Kinstonian by thrown out of the league, does it mean that any points gained against them by any team are withdrawn? I remember a conversation like this going on last year, and wasn't sure if it was true. If this is the case, we would lose 1 point but Aldershot would lose 3. Can anyone clear this up?

You've got it in one, Glen. The league table would be recalculated as if Kingstonians had never been in the league with both point and goal tallies being affected.

Makes the Canvey v Aldershot situation even more interesting!

St Alban's drew 2-2 with Kingstonian and I think Hendon drew 1-1 with them, so they'll only lose 1 point like us.

Don't know if the formatting will work here, but I did a calculations and I see that -

1 Aldershot - lose 3 points - goal diff -1 - total points 64

2 Canvey - lose 1 point - goal diff 0 - total points 62

3 St Albans - lose 4 points - goal diff -2 - total points 56

4 Sutton - lose 1 point - goal diff +1 - total points 52

5 Hendon - lose 1 point - goal diff 0 - total points 52

At the moment the only difference to league position would be Sutton going up one place due to having the same goal difference as Hendon but having scored more goals.
