  1. Past hour
  2. On a more positive note, gaining promotion now hopefully means we can strengthen the squad rather than see it weakened. Plenty of national league scouts watching Marcus over the last 6 weeks. Would have been hard to keep him if we had stayed in the Isthmian league. Yes there will be some clubs in our league and the league above that have sugar daddy owners who will be able to offer him a bit more money but being the king pin of such a great Town squad whilst playing under a manager that gets the best out of him should hopefully see him flourish and progress with us next season. What has happened to Mo since he left us should be a warning. Ie..Not really settling at various clubs at the level above. Being loaned out here and there. Not getting regular starts.
  3. Today
  4. That certainly reads that hes going somewhere!
  5. Yesterday
  6. A cryptic message from Jack Turner on the Farnborough forum. https://farnboroughfcfans.freeforums.net/thread/1332/jack-turner
  7. I'll take your word for that Adrian.
  8. The rumour doing the rounds is that Jack Turner is making a return but I reckon it's pretty unlikely.
  9. How can Scott reveal who the keeper is if he hasn't even told his own manager yet. It won't be divulged until it's done and dusted.
  10. Don’t worry that sad bell will be all over this forum if/when things get tricky next season. I’m expecting some kind of half hearted begrudging well done post first though to try and gain some time. Imagine spending so much time on another teams forum as yours cant even muster one.
  11. I'd be surprised if Maidstone didn't make Mo a very good offer. He got plenty of playing time there and scored some important goals. It would be nice if we could pick up some of the top players from the Isthmian Prem. The likes of Carvalho at Wingate, Yila at Chatham (although probably on very good money there), Sam Higgins at Canvey would be a useful Cass replacement...
  12. Why not ask Scott as he is lurking on the fans forum.
  13. Mo is played for Maidstone United in the NLS who failed to gain promotion to the NL in the play-offs. I think he was on loan from Havant & W who got relegated, so I can't see him going back there, I could be wrong. So who knows where he may end up next season 🤞
  14. Two meanings as always conversing with you is like having oral sex with a shark!😋😋
  15. Never kick a man when he's down (or nearly down in this case)
  16. You’re correct in your assumption.
  17. I had a feeling it might be an excellent keeper who spent last season on loan to an NLS club from an EFL club but probably not.
  18. Well spotted here. I was in line with the 6yd box and whilst it was perhaps the ARs only mistake that day it could have been a huge one. Great header back across by Scott too. So glad it didnt impact the result. Actually 4 0 then. As an aside...our friend AW up the road? Anyone seen or heard from him since Chesericcay found their level. Most surprised he hasnt come out to congratulate us hehe.
  19. A poor decision in the last league game cost us a home tie in the play-off final. A poor decision by the linesman to rule out our second goal in the final could have cost us promotion. 😠 Wylie was quite clearly behind the defender when the ball was headed across to him.
  20. Thanks Rhodes, as an aside was good to see Barry Fry and his wife at the match at the New Eyrie on Monday. One of football's great characters.
  21. Truro is the one I really regret not going to last time, that's the one I'm looking forward to. Tuesday night in February probably!
  22. His manager's Jerry Gill!!!😁
  23. Sarratt v AFC Welwyn is not taking place this evening: Thursday 9 May Division Two Sarratt P AFC Welwyn
  24. Last night's results, many congratulations to AFC Welwyn on lifting the Division Two Cup and completing a League and Cup double: Wednesday 8 May Division Two Aston Clinton 3 Berkhamsted Raiders 3 Sarratt 1 Old Bradwell United 1 The 61 FC (Luton) 1 Newport Pagnell Town Development 1 SSML Division Two Cup Final Bovingdon 2 AFC Welwyn 3 (at London Lions FC)
  25. A groundhopper from another Forum was in attendance at Rowley Lane yesterday (Wednesday 8 May) to witness AFC Welwyn lifting the Division Two Cup following an exciting encounter between the top two Club's in the Division: SSML Division Two Cup Final Bovingdon v AFC Welwyn 2-3 (ht 0-3) Venue: Maccabi London Sports Ground, Rowley Lane, Arkley; (ko 1945hrs) Entry: £8/4, free (printed) programme. Attendance: h/c 206 This was an excellent game that saw champions AFC Welwyn complete the divisional double. And despite the halftime score this was a very even match between the top two teams. Welwyn's more direct style seemed to be prevailing when Kendall Ata Gyamfi scored a quick brace on 12 and 16 minutes. Firstly he held off a challenge on the edge of the box before turning and firing into the bottom left corner of the net. Four minutes later he was free to charge into the box and find the same spot, this time using the outside of his boot. Bovingdon continued with their attractive style of football and created some good chances but fell further behind just before the break when a long ball to the left wing allowed Will McNeill to demonstrate excellent control before firing in from a tight angle. A minute after the break, Welwyn had the ball in the net again but this was ruled offside. Fortunately, Bovingdon continued to play their own game and pulled one back on the hour when pressure resulted in a cross that was slid in at the far post. Bovingdon continued to press and scored again on 69 minutes when a cross was headed home. Chances continued to present themselves at both ends but Welwyn finished strongly and held out for the win. Having been formed, as a separate entity, from Welwyn Garden City's Development team in the summer they couldn't have asked for a more successful first season. It now means that they have something to put in the Club History section of future programmes. And, of course, it will all be available on social media courtesy of forum lurker JamesK and his media team who were out in force on the night.
  26. A groundhopper from another Forum was at Pancake Lane and gives a detailed report: Leverstock Green 3 FC Romania 0. Spartan South Midlands Premier play-off final. Admission: £8. Programme: £2. Crowd: 914. This was no doubt attended by various WDYG illuminati. A match that was historic for the home Club - promoted to Step 4 for the first time - but bitterly disappointing for FC Romania who simply did not turn up. Two surprise finalists for this play-off final, the teams having won away at Harpenden Town and MK Irish in the semis respectively. I spent lunchtime in a St Albans pub gloomily watching the rain come down, which didn't augur well for how a crowd of almost a thousand would manage to keep dry in a venue that has shelter for 200 at most. It was still raining after I arrived at the ground. At about 2.25pm, the officials emerged to go through their pre-match warm-up. One could detect a little concern from them about the amount of water on the pitch. Rain continued for much of the afternoon and it was always going to be a case of which team adapted to the conditions best. Leverstock Green made a strong start. There was an early scare for the visitors when German Petrov misjudged a pass and Rawn Seale had a glimpse of goal. But the ball held up in surface water and the opportunity vanished. Moments later, Radu-Mihai Stefanoaica forced a save from Elgi Fejzo. Then a shot from distance by Dan Pett just cleared the crossbar. It was now apparent that one corner of the pitch, at the end the home side were attacking, was particularly saturated. The first half finished goalless and FC Romania had made little impression - however, the same was true during their semi-final win at MK Irish in which they scored three second-half goals. But it was the home side who scored first after the restart; Pett heading in a cross from the right by Callum Neal. There was a penalty appeal for Leverstock Green when Stefanoaica and Jay-Jay Goncalves tussled inside the box with both ending up submerged in the mud, but the referee ignored the appeals. With FC Romania still struggling to pose a threat, Neal made it 2-0 for the hosts on 77 minutes with a low shot from the edge of the box. Promotion was then secured a few moments later when FC Romania failed to clear a free-kick into their box with the ball forced over the line. Seale was credited as the scorer. "Let's all go to Berko," barked a jubilant home fan in the dying moments. And why not? It even has a castle.
