Decent turnout from Fleet fans for this one?
We should be bringing 400-500.
Looking to making you our next psf conference scalp after hammering Barnet 3-0

I think you'll find the Fleet fans more accommodating and less arrogant; never having been a League team. Wouldn't count on a great turn out, being mid-week and a friendly, but I'll be there for one and looking forward to it as well.

I was going too, but then some chavs smashed my front windows in for no reason on a Monday night, so don't think I'll be venturing out.

God I HATE chavs.

Is it too early for a lastest score/attendance/how we played etc?
I couldn't make it tonite.
Day off work + school holiday + sunny weather = day at seaside (Rye) munching lots of ice cream and getting home at 7.30 with 2 grizzly children.
I know what I would rather be doing tonite!!!

1-1 apparently, from my AFCW contact. Crowd 600-700, Essendoh scored ours with about 12 left, after they opened the scoring in the first half.

Our best players were Pinnock and McKimm according to him, while Moussa has learned how to tell Lee Gledhill to 'f*** off' apparently... <img src="/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

Sorry Andy, days off during the week mean working weekends. Not too worried about missing the freindlies, but the bummer is on the first day of the season I'm driving to Fort William from Locherbie. Still The Willies!!!! play in the Highland League div 2 in front of crowds of about 150 so it might be worth a look.
glad Moussa is learning proper English instead of Chav or Chathamese!

They are the nearest scottish side to the Fleet terms of groundsize and have the "almost in the league" factor about them.
Don't bother with their website, though - very unfreindly- ACCESS DENIED!!!
Still the locals are freindlier than Aberdeen. I saw the Dons v Everton a couple of years ago and the thick, ignorant locals mistook my broad Grayvesend accent with scouse!! Still, they could have thought I came from Margit!

Mitten played well again tonight,as did Jacko with some telling crossfield passes in the first half.Build up play was reasonable but the goal chances in the first half were a few speculative shots.Second half play gave Saunders a couple of good chances,a header that he should have put away, and a cross shot that just went wide of the far post.things livened up when Moussa replaced Manny, and Roy Essendoh`s headed goal was a beauty! This came from a free kick won by Moussa`s pace.Quite an entertaining game overall;suggest Ben Surey doesn`t take too many corners!

his corners were appalling, i think he was aiming for the near post, where no one ever was, when he should be aiming for Essandoh, the silly thing was after the 1st 2 he stepped up to take a 3rd, would of thought he'd learned his leasson with the first two. Mousa was lively running from the right to the inside a lot. First half played 4-3-3, with manny, roy, and pinno, and look like we lacked a lot of width which they took advantage of quite well. The referee was quite bad, letting them get away with a lot of very niggling things, like pulling on shirts and hard tackles. Makes me think if they are going to enforce the law for red card offences' like with prothers, then they should at least enforce offence that blatantly deserve yellows.

For us 1st half was a bit lack luster, for a while we did attack well though with pinnock or saunders (hard to tell from the other end as they both look the same), hitting the bar from a good header. Then they scored as one of their player managed to get a clear path to goal and slot it past mitten, who played quite well today.

Early half showed some improvement, but wasnt un till moussa came on that we played some really good attacking football culminating with a good headed goal from Essendoh at the back stick from an excellent cross field ball. Also saunders had a good headed oppertunity from which he did a good job of making contact but his directioning was poor, but was probaly best he could do with a defender infront of him.

MoM for me Moussa as he added that spark to the attack we at periods we seemed to lack

Also didnt quite look the 400-500 fans promised but respect to them for bringing quite a few.

Along with this evenings game I've now seen four of the friendlies, (Folkestone, VCD & Gillingham). Can it be arranged that (8) Jay Saunders sits in the bottom left seat of the team photo.

Over recent seasons it's been an unlucky spot, as whoever sat there has gone by November. Against Gillingham and AFC Wimbledon he has been bloody awful. I doubt he could pass water, let alone a ball. If he sees a red shirt he passes to it, even if it's in the crowd. He tries to shimmy and dodge past two or three players, but always fails. And then complains to other players that they weren't helping him out.

Do us a favour Andy, since he's on a contract lone him back to Margate for the season.

What about Pinnock he had a superb game and his first touch was class, he very nearly scored from manny's cross, he was the man the of the match if not him then Mckimm.

Not quite sure what extra dimension Jay brings to the midfield. reminds me a bit of jimmy Strouts - who proved not quite up to Conference standard

I think Saunders, Surey and McKimm are too similar and we could do with someone a bit more creative in the middle, like Drury.
Jacko hit some superb passes last night but playing 4:3:3 he was pulled too far into the middle.
If Drury was fit last night he would have started in place of Moore so presumably we would have played 3:4:3 which is a new one on me!

Lets get off Saunders back. He's only played a couple of friendlies with his new team mates.. Margate fans have seen him play over a number of seasons and they say he's class and thats good enough for me.

it only PRE-SEASON if it was the league yes have a go at him but its not, it pre-season. lay-off him and let him get use to the way we play and the players around him.

I trust Andy and Ade.
If they think Jay merits a place in the bigger picture, fine by me. We DO need cover in every position. Suspensions and injury will no doubt take a heavy toll, so although Saunders may be of a similar, combative syle to Macca and Surey, there will come a time (probably a cold wet Tuesday evening in the Midlands) when his particular talents will be required.
