Billericay 4-2 Carshalton

Recommended Posts

Well I was more depressed than I have been all season when we went 2-0 down, but fair play to the boys for pulling it back and then sealing the win.

Up to 6th now. I haven't given up on the play-offs yet, but it's not going to be easy. We really need to get some consistency from somewhere.

who did decide to play the game today ??, if it was tomorrow im sure there would of been more people there and im sure there would of been more people stay behind to watch the happy hammers on Setanta at a 5.15 kick off which would of meant more money over the bar.

it was odd today it feels like saturday and now my weeked seems confuesd well thats a free day for me well i do have a football match for my local team in billericay called hannakins farm and well its my return from a broken metatarsal so i will look to pull my team back up the table. right anyway back to todays match well it was a good 2nd half display which has been our telling half this season and i can imagine that our management gave our players i rocket of a talk at half time well you would have thought so.

What an extraordinary game. Like finisterre we were all pretty depressed in our group until about 4.20 or whatever - even wondering whether relegation was still a mathematical possibility!!

Great last 20 minutes or so and the influence of Lee and Burbs seemed to make the difference.

Our defence was diabolical today - it's been said before that Blewitt is a great centre back (although pretty rubbish today) but IS NOT a left back - managers please listen, DO not leave Kerrers on the bench if he is fit enough to play.

A dreadful game suddenly became really memorable near the end, well done lads but please start playing from the start.

And take heart, East Thurrock won at Wimbledon today so anythng is still possible.

PS a final word , what a terrible bunch of officials.

I think we done very well to get back and then go on to win the game. Credit to our players for that. However we cant keep starting to play proper football halfway through the match.

Attendance i think would have been the same if it were played tomorrow.

Richards, if you think the officials were bad today, i dont know if you were at Ramsgate, but they were so much worse then.

I don't think it was a good performance from Ricay today, we haven't played 'good; football for several games now, although we have achieved a good result today, SOMEONE needs to grab hold of the team and get them motivated!!!! too many lazy players who are happy to sit back and wait for things to happen instead of making the play, DO they want to WIN or are they just happy to stay in this division.

True. However Grant and Jason are playing the people that Matt Jones brought in, not their actual players, and probably some of the players we have, they might not want to play.

I think reaching playoffs would be good, but would we rather see out this season and not get into the playoffs? And then just maybe get more let down if we got into the playoffs then get knocked out, or would we rather start a fresh next season and hope for the best? With the right players.

For the first hour of the game we were pretty dreadful, lacked fight and application and Carshalton were well worth their two goal lead because they wanted it more than us. The final half hour we started to play a bit and got 4 goals, but I don't think that should gloss over what went before.

Wow, it's a good job we didn't lose!!

I agree that we didn't play well to start with but I do think the "team" should get some credit for coming back from two goals behind to win, not for the first time this season.

We started with another new system 3-5-2, I don't know why. I think we need to pick a system and stick to it, at least to see which players are capable of playing in it adequately. Personally I'd go for 4-4-2 nearly every time.

Of the players we have available Burbridge and Bricknell seem to be the best blend up top to me. The issue is getting Burbs on the pitch for 90 minutes regularly. I know it's a bone of contention for some but to me BWG is much more effective out wide than through the middle. I know some disagree with that but I think yesterday's game demonstrates my view well.

Attack seems to be the best form of defence for us at the moment. I hope we go into our final games with positive team selection and that the players realise that they have to perform more consistently.

I thought 532 was a decent gate. There didn't seem to be many there from Carshalton.

Come on you blues!!!

I think that there should be more medical staff at the ground for us oldies, our tickers can't cope with the ups and downs of the team. Anyone can go go and watch a game but it takes a special breed to support the Blues.

Back to the game, I think that the system used did not work and that caused us to be 2 - 0 down. However when it was changed to 4 4 2 the game totally changed and I must congratulate the team and their performance in the last half hour of the game. Also well done to the management for the changes that caused it, although it should have been changed earlier. Still cannot understand why Kerrers was not on from the start.

Now Harlow on Monday.

So why was the attendance a negative? I thought 532 was quite a decent crowd considering the recent results and I can't imagine that many more people would've turned up today (Saturday). As for football on at 5.15...does that not depend if the club has got function on?

I thought that, despite the fight back, there were a few more worrying negatives than the attendance, if the team are going to match the managers ambition (and the clubs and the supporters) of trying to secure a play of place...and it isn't down to whether they have the talent and are not good enough, because they do and they are...

Still, winning 4 - 2 after what we witnessed their No. 2 doing makes it all the sweeter and I still don't think we should be too ungrateful. Consider three months ago we were looking at relegation, being in a position to challenge for a play off place now is an achievement, IMO...As was the fight back yesterday.

I would agree with jl concerning our formation and our attitude. 4-4-2 works for us as well as attacking being the best form of defence for us...Wimbledon, Folkestone and Horsham are all examples of when we went out and stamped OUR authority of the game...and again...I repeat myself here, we have the players that can do that!!!

Except Blewitt didn't play left back, he was the left side of 3 centre backs, Tejan-Se was left wing back (which is a waste of his talent). When we went to a flat back 4 after about 30 mins, Alalie played left back with Tejan-Se left midfield, then when Heffer went off Kerrigan came on and was left back.

Playing 3-5-2 was a mistake and I guess the managers realised as they changed it after about 30 mins. I'd much rather see 4 at the back with Kerrigan at left back, he may not be the best going forward, but his job is to defend, and I'd rather my full back defends first than go forward.

It was an interesting game, at half time I was ready to swing from the New Lodge Oak, but from somewhere we pulled out a get out of jail free card and I spent the rest of the night at the bar with renewed hope.

Our resident Doctor had a great caption for the pic, it was along the lines of " no worries Rik I've taken a Viagra"
