Just got back from watching a very good game, not just because the GATE won,it was even football but today the GATE had passion and fight about them,Kenny took both his goals well, the first a smart back heel, the 2nd a very well taken shot at goal made by Peters.IMO Stubbs was on fire I dont think there was a bit of grass he did not cover and the first goal was started by him attacking and winning the ball all in all a very good cold afternoon.UP THE GATE.

In a nutshell the first fifteen minutes was poor but Ashford did not look like a side who had lost five on the spin. We generally got into the game and there was some good passing but it still looked like we would struggle to score.

Pratts first goal was well taken, turning in an original shot from, I think, Healy. His second was even better as Peters pass was a little short and not as far in front of Pratt as he would have liked. He still got past the defender though and clipped it over the advancing keeper. The pile of players on top of him in celebration showed how much it meant.

It would be hard to find a poor performance. Morris was solid at right back and cleared one off the line in the first half. Young cleared up pretty much everything before going off, after picking up a knock towards the end of the firt half. Wilson's passing was spot on. Stubbs never stopped. Peters, as part of a sort of front three with Healy and Pratt, was running at defenders and looked to be enjoying it. Everyone else had a pretty good game too.

At 1-0 there was always a danger we were going to give it away.

We played 3-5-1-2 to start with, although the 1 (Peters) got more forward as the game went on, while Healy played deeper.

MOM hard to pick because all players did their bit. Harwood a towering figure at the back as always, Stubbsy the pick of the midfield, but I will be voting for Kenny: exactly the right attitude (unlike at least one recently-departed journeyman IMO), and two well deserved goals to show for it.

Kenny's first was quick thinking to turn in Stubbsy's misdirected shot (deflection my ar*e!), and second a proper striker's goal after good work by Peters.

Very hard for Wellsie to ID the scorers at the far end; no doubt the new stadium will have a proper PA box above the hospitality suites.

Next week will be hard without LH. Surely we will have to play 4-4-2?

Do you get the feeling that we have spent 6 months going around in circles and ending up where we started ?

Nine of todays team were virtually the starting line up at start of season (i include mullins as he was arguably first choice but injured ).The only two who are different are Healey (for Power ) and Harwood (for smith or parkinson ).

Everyone else was in or about the team in august !!

Seems like alot of energy, money and pain spent to get back to where we were under Ashby in August !!

What a great afternoon's football. Started a bit tentative in both halves but ended up very well deserved winners. So pleased to see Kenny get 2 goals but each and every player did their bit. Including Pat, got a hand to all crosses he came for and pulled off every save. One outstanding one in the 1st half, low to his right pushing it around the outside of the post. ecki

Disagree MM. Healy and Harwood are two of our best players now, so those two alone improve us from the side we had at the start of the season. I like the way the midfield functioned today, with Morris and Stubbs winning key tackles.

MOM between Healy, Harwood, Stubbs and Pratt. All were excellent.

Pat in goal was solid. Although he did give us a scare when he slipped in the second half. But claimed crosses very well, and kicked well in general.

Thought the one disappointment was Gregs. Seemed to get caught out a lot, is he carrying a knock? Robinson would be my preference at left back for next week.

Stubbs should already be on the teamsheet for the Tonbridge game after today's performance IMO. Was everywhere as others say. Healy also deserves a lot of praise. Was always holding the ball up, and nearly every attack was built around him.

Delighted for Kenny to get 2 goals. Impressed today and deserves a run in the side.
