Knaphill 1 Dorking 1

Recommended Posts

Despite dominating for long periods, creating and wasting a host of chances Knaphill had to settle for a point against title rivals Dorking in an exciting encounter at Redding Way on Bank Holiday Monday.

However the Knappers had to come from behind with Matt Baker converting a 52nd minute penalty after falling behind to a 35th minute goal from Dorking's Adrian Butler. Dorking created one or two chances one of which hit the crossbar along with some excellent Knaphill defending but it was the home side who should have come away with all three points and the feeling in the dressing room that it was a case of two points dropped rather then a point gained.

TRS, That's not what your management team said after the match, words such as 'We (Knaphill) were the much better side'.

However difference of opinions is all part of the beautiful game. Is that right that Phil Page failed to score for the first time in 14 consecutive games?

id say it was one of those games that could have been a 4-3 either way very open end to end.

hope your guy with the cut is ok.

Page has been on a great run,,he and your guy (baker?) and the mvdc striker are all good players with a top goal record this year.

Id say Page has the most potential.

Knaphill had a couple of players with a bit more time on the ball and the ability to stop and look up.Dorkings midfield recently is a bit break it up and knock it forward.

At this time of the season a lot of guys are carrying knocks and running on fresh air, and Knaphill having games in hand might not be able to keep it going.

a good tight end to the season.

Fair enough, but I felt it was fairly even! Think you're right about Page - where would we be without him? Two good games against your lot, although can't say I enjoyed the last half hour that much at Meadowbank....

Knaphill 1 Dorking FC 1

Official Club Report:-

"Dorking ended the Easter weekend with a hard fought draw at fellow promotion chasers Knaphill. The draw keeps Chicks in the hunt for promotion, but now dependant on other teams to slip up in the final stages, while needing to take maximum points from their 3 remaining games, starting this weekend at home to league leaders Mole Valley SCR, one of the teams Dorking can definitely catch assuming they win all 3 of their outstanding games.

Looking back over Chicks three games in 6 days over the Easter week, Dorking will feel that had luck been on their side they could have built on the excellent 1-0 win at Mole Valley SCR last Tuesday with wins over Hanworth Villa on Saturday and Knaphill today
