Colliers Wood United Announcement

Recommended Posts

Wednesday 10th February 2010 12.25pm

Tonight's CCL game at Wibbandune v Bedfont has been postponed.

The club will be meeting with league officials on Thursday to discuss the ongoing issues regarding the playing surface and what options there may be to fulfil fixtures.

The club will be upgrading the pitch in the close season.

The following statement was announced in the league bulletin of 9th February 2010.

"Colliers Wood United are experiencing problems with their main pitch due to a chemical imbalance in the soil, which means that the grass cannot take root properly and affects the drainage in certain parts of the pitch.

This will be rectified at the end of the season when it will be

"Koro-d" but, in the meantime, whilst the poor weather conditions continue, games will be subject to postponement".

the cwufc pitch was the best i'd seen it in 10 years of playing ccl! What happened??

Not entirely sure but 10 weeks of rain, snow and frost didn't help.

Hopefully we can get back to playing v Chertsey on 27th Feb.

We have a new website as well now.

Following an unprecedented run of injuries and illnesses, CWUFC have asked if their Suburban League game v Woking on Saturday can be postponed. This has been agreed by the league and the club are grateful to them for allowing this leeway while we look to recruit new players. We only have 9 matches remaining in the league.

The club are missing about 10 players from their reserve and youth set up at present, most of those are long term situations.

We have received a quote for the upgrading of the Wibbandune pitch in the summer of 2010 when this work will be carried out.

We foresee no problems regarding CCL matches, the first of which is at Egham Town on Tuesday evening.

Any prospective new players should contact the club on 0208 942 8062 (answerphone available).

HI CHRIS

what standard of player are the club looking for. when and where do you train.

Players of CCL and Suburban South standard I guess.

We train at the ground (you would need to check with club re what nights depending when matches are played).

I would just like to clarify that the Suburban League game scheduled for this Saturday against Woking has been cancelled due to the ongoing pitch situation at Wibbandune and NOT because Wood cannot field a side.
