3 0 Haringey Borough v Hillingdon Borough [ Extra Preliminary Round ]

Happy to see Haringey win cause that will upset Mr Rhodes, as i bet he would have loved to see them lose so he could just have a dig at them....

1 2 Royston Town v Crawley Green [ Extra Preliminary Round ]

Not a great result for Royston. Should have been 3 or 4 up in the first 30mins rather then just 1 goal up. Did not help playing with 10 men for 70mins as the forward got sent off for 2 yellows but he should have had a straight Red and would have done if the Ref had seen it. Played 2 cups games out of 2 cups both against Div 1 sides. :frown:

A brief report on this one:

Bowers & Pitsea 4 Dunstable Town 1

FA Cup Extra Preliminary round.

Adm £6

Prog £1

att 90 est.

Also at this one, Bowers ran out easy winners against a truly abject

Dunstable side, the home pairing looked dangerous and it was no suprise

when the no.10 opened the scoring.

A cracking equaliser gave the away side hope, but three in the last 20mins

gave the hosts a well deserved win.

Really liked the ground which is three sided due to the trees flanking one side,

a nice enclosed feel to it and a very decent afternoon to start the FA Cup.

Reports on this one, both from Forum and Hertford Town's Website:

FA Cup (E.On) Extra Preliminary Round

Takeley V Hertford Town

Score: 0-4 Att: 185 (my h/c was 152) KO: 1500

Cost: £5. Progs: Yes

Weather: Sunny with cloudy intervals until a few miles from ground. From then on until after 60mins of game it was cloudy with rain, sometimes heavy. For the last 30mins the sun came out. A bit warmer when sun came out.

Venue: Station Road.

3 floodlights each side with hard standing all round. The ground is almost fully railed. As you go thru the proper turnstiles are the changing rooms & kitchen area building. These have a slight overhang. Also on this side straddling the half way line is a small covered seated stand with 5 rows. Opposite are 2 covered standing areas complete with a scaffold like structure. There's 1 in each half although you stand on grass. Behind 1 goal its a bit narrow with the car park behind the fence. Out of ground behind other goal is a wooden water tower. There appears to be no clubhouse. The small kitchen area had a small tv showing athletics before the game. The line-up's were written inside on a board. There was no tannoy.

Match: Essex Senior League V Molten Spartan South Midlands Premier Division

Shots in 1st half 4-4. After 25mins it had all been Takeley. They wasted a good chance shooting weakly at the Gk on 20mins. This was their last chance of the half. Out of the blue on 27mins HT had a shot saved by the GK but Matt McArdle was 1st to react to stab home, 0-1. A long range free-kick was saved well & then on 46+mins Dom Musafiri volleyed a 20 yard cracker home, 0-2.

Shots in 2nd half 9-3. If the 2nd goal was good the 3rd was even better as McArdle scored from 30 yards on 49mins, 0-3. Takeley wasted chance after chance when they really should have scored although they made it easy for the defence & GK. The HT kept wasting time. Takeley's James Amott was lucky not to see a 2nd yellow. HT were later awarded a penalty for a clear foul which saw McArdle race up field to grab the ball & convert his hat-trick on 90+mins. The small band of HT fans complete with flag celebrated at the final whistle.

I didn't think there was much between the sides. On the bench for HT was Pablo Ardilles.

Efc - Not at all, I said to Bethnal Green United yesterday, after they 'murdered' Basildon Town 4-0, to prepare themselves for a visit to Silver Jubilee Park and tipped them off that it would be on Sunday 29 August.

Sunday 15 August

Hadley v Barking (1.00pm) 0-0

A report on this one from another's Forum, it sounded like a disappointing game:

Hadley 0-0 Barking (FAC EP)

att (est) 100 Adm £5 Prog £1

Desperately dull game (although Barnet v Burton the previous day was even worse!) No shots from either side for 70 mins, a couple of chances for each side thereafter competenly dealt with by the keepers.

Potters Bar (where Hadley groundshare) has a decent, obstruction-free stand along one side and a small cover behind one goal which I think wasn't there when I last visited. Not the biggest car park - the surrounding roads have parking restrictions also (although not on a Sunday).

Colney Heath 3 Broxbourne Borough 0

A report on this surprisingly one sided affair from another's Forum:

Colney Heath 3 Broxbourne Borough 0 (FA Cup) Att: 76

I've had very mixed experiences of the Spartan South Midlands League over the past few years, and this match contained both extremes. The first half was pretty grim, but once the home side scored a lovely goal which finished off a lengthy passing move on 41 minutes things improved dramatically and the second half was very good indeed. This was the club's first home FA Cup tie and it turned out to be their first ever FA Cup victory. The players' celebrations after all three goals and at the final whistle showed how much it meant to them, and in the end it was well deserved, although the visitors looked the better side for the first half hour. The Cooper bothers scored a goal apiece and the first was scored by the most impressive Josh Humbert who created good things in midfield. Captain Mark Teasdale also looked useful.

The Recreation Ground is not spectacular but certainly adequate for the level and is in a pleasant setting. The only cover is in front of the clubhouse, with seating for about 100 and room for standing behind. Easy to find, plenty of parking. Friendly natives. Admission £6 and a decent programme for a quid. Couldn't find any tea on sale, sadly.

A very enjoyable day out.
