Surely the loanees and Brendan Kiernan must of cost money or maybe not?

For sure, but not mega, plus some signed players went out on loan too (e.g  Zac Bell to Truro). As we know loanees can be brought in at rates less than they are paid at the owner club (50/50 split for example). We'll see how they approach NLS, but the likes of Smith, Kiernan will likely move on, the former for a fee in all probability.

With an enhanced budget hopefully we can make a few more established signings.

What enhanced budget?

Re-read Scott's post of 3 May 21:21 on the retained list thread and he is very careful not to quote that there is an increase in budget.  He talks about wise recruitment.

There may well be a better budget, but that is between owner and manager.

If you say there is more money everyone will be going in for a raise, and you will start getting calls from the mercenaries of the game.

Apart from what was said at the fans forum it was printed in the last match day program from Ash saying 'we are enhancing the playing budget to ensure we remain competitive'.

50p won't go far😆

Imo that statement is nonsense really All season long we were told our budget was poor  one of the poorest in the league etc.etc. we were never competitive  so a pledge to remain competetive is pie in the sky What is needed is a substantial switch of available funds to the playing squad.

I think we all need to readjust our expectations for next season and consider staying up as an achievement. If we can better last seasons place then we’ve done very well.

Unlike last season at least we've been told it's a competitive budget and expectations/league position will be based around that.

So what does "competitive" mean?

That we are competitive for the league title?

That we are competitive for a playoff place?

That we are competitive for a top half finish?

That we are competitive for relegation?

It is only words. The truth will be the position we will be in after 46 games.

In my view having a 'competitive budget' means we have a budget comparable with other clubs we want to compete with.

In our case it wouldn't be clubs at the top end and hopefully not clubs at the bottom end.

In a nutshell a mid table budget.

Agreed. Staying in the league is a must, we can't think higher as the league is getting stronger, budget wise we are being left behind.

As a club we should start the season with two aims/goals.

1) To reach the play-offs, which every club should aspire to regardless of their budget.

2) To not get relegated

As for being left behind budget wise, as supporters it's something we'll never know unless we were privy to other clubs budgets.

To be a supporter of a club  every season you begin and end it with support hope optimism joy happiness pleasure enjoyment and positivity.

And this is carried on during the closed and pre season it s an all year thing supporting your club.

I have never seen any of your posts with  these eight words in them.

All it is from you is everything against the club,  owner and manager  negativity despondency so bored seeing your posts give up go and join Maidenhead fans forum i m sure they would enjoy your words of doom and gĺoom.😡😡
