Luciano Figueroa - Birmingham

 

Signed for £2.5m in the summer described by Bruce as "the new Gabrielle Batistuta", they had to go to tribunal to prove that they signed him first. He has played for less than half an hour in the first team and has been released from his contract to play for some mexican club. Bruce has now described him as "not big enough or good enough for the premiership." Interesting.

Apparently did alright for Boro last season (bear in mind he was playing alongside Jonathan Greening)

 

Was on the field for 90 minutes against Watford in the cup. I'm not convinced he touched the ball once.

Good to see Liverpool's defensive "colossus"(ahem) Torben Piechnik not forgotton.

Lest we not forget various foreign duffers for LFC since the 90's:

 

Istvan Kozma (Hungarian, ex Dunfermline, 300k. 1 year, 10 games. VFM!)

 

Erik Meijer (poo!)

 

Haukur Gudnason (Icelandic, the new Eidur Gudjonsson they said, bol*ocks said everyone else. 3 years, the only sniff of first team action was probably from cleaning Owen's boots!)

 

Frode Kippe (Norwegian, 700k, 2 years, 2 games...bargain!)

 

Jørgen Nielsen (keeper, apparently..... ever heard of him?)

 

Vegaard Heggem ( Norwegian defender who couldn't... well... defend!)

 

Jean Michel Ferri (Frenchman, probably as quick as the one on the Mersey!)

 

Bjorn Tore Kvarme (Norwegian ...hmm is there a trend here?)

and my personal favourite:

 

Michael Stensgaard (Danish keeper, forced to retire through an injury sustained at home...whilst ironing!)
