For a moment, when I saw the fixtures for this week, I thought that Karen had gone on strike like British Airways staff, what's wrong with scheduling fixtures whilst the weather is still good and the evenings lighter compared to the miserable winter months, apparently we're in for a very harsh winter too.

SSML Challenge Trophy First Round
Harefield United 5 Buckingham United 0

A hatrick for Leonard Farhall thats 5 goals in 4 games for him now.

Harefield United have some very decent strikers at the club.

I see Harefield United have signed ex Hanwell Town full back Sam Addae who made his debut yesterday.

I think Karen has gone on strike, I wasn't able to put the put the results up last night but a convincing win for Harefield United in the Challenge Trophy albeit against Division 2 opposition:

Savagebee - That's worrying isn't it, that was my point about Karen scheduling more fixtures whilst the weather is still good and the evenings lighter compared to the miserable late autumn and winter months ahead, what will she do if it is another winter like 1962/1963 as is being predicted

Probably just scare-mongering by the Met Office.

They like to cover themselves just on the off-chance they are actually right !

Big J R - The Met Office haven't lived down Michael Fish have they in 1987 so, as you say, they have tried to cover their backs ever since. Still I wonder what Karen would do if there is another winter like 1962/1963, there wasn't a ball kicked in anger for weeks on end and the FA Cup Third Round wasn't completed until 11 March:

So many more clubs ground share these days as well so there's more wear and tear on the pitches so add some bad weather in to the mix and there could be problems for some clubs.

Savagebee - Yes and some Club's, such as Kings Langley for example, have two Club's groundsharing so if there is another winter like 1962/1963 I don't know what Karen, and other fixture Secretaries all over the Country will do. That's why I'm so surprised there are only four SSML fixtures taking place this week on balmy nights in early September and just three last week which were all FA Cup and FA Vase replays

I'm thinking about sending out a search party for Karen, here's last night's solitary result:

SSML Division 1
London Lions 2 Brimsdown 1

A bit like Coles Park before the astro went down

I remember a London Senior Cup tie with Fisher at Coles Park which I believe comfortably broke the Stranraer v Airdrie Scottish Cup record in 1962/1963 of 33 postponements, there was even a lengthy thread about it on very this Forum:

An interesting report from another Forum:

London Lions 2 Brimsdown 1 (HT 1-0)
Spartan South Mids Div One
Admission: £5
Programme: None (probs with printers but with an attendance so low I suspect other reasons)
Attendance: Guess at circa 30

Working in London but living on the Herts/Essex border, I love a midweek game within the M25 but often that means I dont get home until gone midnight. On a school night. At my age. Not good. So took the option of driving and parking at High Barnet, Northern line to work (and back) and then a short drive to Rowley Lane. Meant I was home at 10.30 (and this was an 8pm start!)
Turnstile wasnt open so I just walked through the gate, did a 3/4 lap of the ground and sat in the grandstand. One other person in the ground. Just over half an hour to kick off.
Eventually a young lady walked all the way over to collect the £5 entrance fee. She then escorted me back to the club bar so I could purchase a drink. Annoyingly, no food
I normally go to these games as a pure neutral but the attitude of nearly every Brimsdown player soon changed that. What a nasty bunch of angry young men. Elbows, punches off the ball. All missed by the most ineffectual officials Ive ever witnessed.
Two goals to the Lions No 9, the second a fantastic strike from a tightish angle on the edge of the box. Only when Brimsdown were reduced to 10 did they start to play good football. But too late despite the goal back.
Brimsdown player that was sent off could be seen leaning out of the changing room window trying to goad the Lions players.
Shame there was no FA rep there. They were a disgrace

I see that there is a discussion about the above game on another Forum, are Brimsdown really as bad as all that, I'm sure the anorak who attended the game on Wednesday evening is exaggerating:

I had been considering visiting Shefford Town & Campion tomorrow, but as the visitors are Brimsdown, I have now taken it off my shortlist. Many thanks for posting your warning on here, it shows what a great resource this forum is especially the WDYG reports!

Maybe they arent always like that. Maybe they are more dog people
If you do still go, would be very interested to hear your views. To see if they are just horrible or if Wednesday was a full moon

Yes, could have been a one-off, but as I've already said, I have taken tomorrow's game off my shortlist. I'm sure there are other posters on this forum who will have seen Brimsdown recently, or will watch them later this season.
