How do we see this one going this evening, although it is Milton Keynes Irish's first competitive game of the campaign they should be fit enough after an extensive pre-season programme, Thame Rangers however have already played an FA Cup tie at Dunstable Town where they were unlucky to lose on penalties and two Hellenic League Division One East fixtures so that's surely a worry for Terry Shrieves:

I was wrong. Very comfortable for Risboro today. 3-0, few minutes left. Winslow not really in the game at all today.

Gutted I couldn’t attend. 3-0 does sound comfortable. What happened?

Risboro do have a good side but Pound for pound the teams are pretty even.

Winslow started well, as before, gave two poor goals away, as usual and then heads dropped and Risboro had enough experience to never be in danger after that. Was over as a contest after 2nd goal for sure.

Daily Dose - Sorry but you will be even more gutted to learn that Ollie Bayliss was in attendance this afternoon, I wonder how much of the game he was able to see with the crowd far more interested in talking to him, what really surprised me though was that, apparently, Elmfields Gate was a new ground for him, he had never been there before despite pretty much always living in the Aylesbury area, I think that surely must be wrong information:

Buildbase FA Vase First Qualifyng Round

Little Oakley 2 Stotfold 1

A disappointing defeat for Stotfold this afternoon, a groundhopper from another Forum was at the War Memorial Ground:

FA Vase 1st Qualifying Round
Little Oakley 2 Stotfold 1
Admission £3 (concession) Attendance c110 (headcount)

The first half of this match was pretty poor fare with a rock hard pitch and a fresh breeze making control of the ball very difficult. Little Oakley started the better perhaps because they had already played three league games whereas Stotfold hadn't even opened their campaign. The visitors did get into the game as the half progressed and went closest to scoring with a shot that was cleared off the line. Things improved after the interval with at least a few passes going to feet. Play was end to end but again it was Stotfold who looked the more dangerous and it took two good saves from the Little Oakley keeper to keep the scores level. It appeared that Litttle Oakley had snatched it ten minutes from time when Rodgers got free on the right hand side to fire home, maybe a little fortunately as moments earlier he had launched himself at the opposing full back and only earned a yellow card. Stotfold didn't give up and equalised when ex-Cambridge City striker Fehmi hit a low shot from distance which finished up in the bottom corner. As everybody anticipated the final whistle and a penalty shootout Little Oakley pumped the ball forward and an offside looking Mann was left clear through - the linesman possibly influenced by having just had a previous offside decision overruled by the referee. Mann kept his composure to put Little Oakley back in front and to secure their first ever FA Vase victory.
My first visit to this part of Essex since 1972 when Cambridge City beat nearby Harwich and Parkeston in an FA Cup Qualifying Round. I had a quick drive round Dovercourt and Harwich before kick off and passed the site of that victory and was pleased to see that the impressive main stand is still in place. Little Oakley's Memorial Ground is much more modest with a small cluster of seats on one side and a miniscule area of covered standing behind one goal. Clubhouse and dressing rooms are separated from by the pitch by a caged five-a-side facility. Comprehensive Covid precautions in place in the clubhouse with name and number taken at the gate but several groups of spectators were unable to count to six.
