Carshalton 2-2 Hornchurch

Recommended Posts

A point gained after being 2-0 down. First half we were poor, started really slowly and Carshalton Capitalised. Didn’t look like scoring first half. Then we concede a really poor goal in the second half, the guy shouldn’t have that much space in the box to tap that in. Then when we brought on Nash and odnoghue we started playing a lot better and looked much more threatening. We also moved players into their right positions which helps. Good character to come back from 2-0 down but if we start that slowly against Billericay there will be no coming back from it.  Have to be on it from the very first minute. Ricay have real momentum now and we have to make sure we get something from it otherwise they could go on a really big run.

Got caught with sucker punches at the start of each half , they started quickly first half and we didn’t really recover from that - second half, when the first goal went in, some of the passing and moving were excellent , Scannell played really well. Just needed another 5 minutes and we might have won it. Why did the ref let their no 8 keep mouthing off for both penalties? Didn’t put Ade off! Pleased with a point, defence was okay apart from the two goals   , I saw only one other shot on target, a ball crossed over the goal line and a blocked shot and that was about it from them. Billericay and Enfield away this month but then that’s the hardest away games (other than our bogey team Canvey ) dealt with. COYU

Well a point is a point! What a game, caught napping for both goals IMO. First half was not much to write home about, apart from, we seemed to have a lot of possession. Second half and after going 2 down, well what a change. I thought Tom and Sean caused them loads of issues down the left once Michael O'Donoghue came on. A saved penalty, a scored penalty and an amazing run from Sean tearing their defense apart before a cross into the box and a screamer from Tom to earned a deserved point, but we should honestly have taken three. Onwards to ricay!

Reality is if we played that last 25-30 mins from the start, we probably win that game. The problem is , it’s now 10 points from our last 21 Available. Probably 4-5 pts  short of where we needed to be given the tough run of  fixtures. As much as today is a point gained and any point away from home is  a good point, we really needed to convert 1 or 2 of them home games that we drew into wins. Win your home games and take any points away from home. Having said that I’d still take a draw on Tuesday. It has become a bit of a must not lose otherwise momentum could really swing their way.

Saw Billericay beat Cray 6-0 yesterday.

Cray were poor but Billericay were impressive with the pace and creativity of their play.

Hornchurch reined in by two more points was the reaction after the game.

After a slow start to the season they seem to be moving into top gear now.

Really big match Tuesday.

Ellis Brown was playing up front for Cray but didn't do much and was subbed at half time.
