Taunton are obviously desperate to get the game on.

Hopefully they don't just leave it to the ref when he turns up.

Just read on Taunton's twitter page that they have a "precautionary" pitch inspection in 20 minutes time, at 10.30am.

-5 overnight in Taunton -2 at 10am this morning.

With the travelling distance involved lets hope they use some common sense.

At 10.12am this morning HMRC served a winding up order against Taunton Town F.C.

Southend United were served several before finally settling their debt. It'll be interesting to see how much leniency the authorities give little Taunton Town!

Thanks Connor  just about to post same link   Yes there are few people doubting the veracity but imo if such a serious claim wasnt true then Taunton Town would have debunked it rkght away?

It all depends on the how the HMRC reads their books and believe there is a chance of getting any money owed.

If it looks like they will go further into debt and no chance of recovering the monies owed they will shut them down quick, but if Taunton put together a viable recovery plan, then they will give them more time.

And this is why fans should always keep an eye on the financial management of their club.

But those in the bottom 4 will be praying that Taunton go bust so only 3 go down.

When asked about the Taunton Town FC case, a spokesperson from HMRC said: “We take a supportive approach dealing with customers who have tax debts and only file winding up petitions once we have exhausted all other options in order to protect taxpayers’ money.”

The Somerset County Gazette has approached the club for a comment and chairman Kevin Sturmey will provide one shortly.

If a company is served with a winding-up petition, it represents the most serious legal action a creditor can take.
