FA Trophy - Hornchurch 2 Burton Albion 1

Urchins

Recommended Posts

I feel this would be a good moment to point out the comment by Brian Little on BBC1's Football Focus' before his Tranmere side progressed through to the 6th round of the FA Cup.

He said they had been lucky against Hornchurch. Not Bolton, the Premier league side, but Hornchurch.

I would consider that a very fair comment.

Of course we, as supporters, should be flattered but such praise.

But the team did earn it.

What you dont appear to realise is that most Conference sides are more interested in the play offs or avoiding relegation than the Trophy.

A good chance to try out some fringe players.

Good point Patriat but when Canvey won it three years ago there were no play offs and the Conference sides we played were not all that.

Are Conference sides taking the Trophy seriously or is the gap between the feeder leagues and the Conference growing smaller?

It seems likely that for the third season out of 4 a feeder league side will win the Trophy.

Oh well I have had my bit of fun.

As it happens I thought you were easily the best side yesterday and Mathews looks back to his best.

But make the most of it while it lasts . The Daggers will be back.

If, and its a big if,you make it to the final will I be welcome on the coach?

Yes Matthews looked very impressive yesterday. Very pleased with him.

Again good all round perfomance. What a season. Beaten two proven Conference sides, one div 3 side and were extremely unlucky not to have beaten tranmere as well.

This underlines the great strides the club has made in the last few seasons

We have to be careful that we don't become too complacent in the league as although we have games in hand we need to keep ourselves comfortably in the top 12 to ensure conference-south football next season.

Bloody Hell...Theirs more traffic on here than the bliming M25, I think the patriat has been put back in the toy-box !

What a performance by the lads we dug in and kept working, in my opinon for the majority of the match we 'out footballed' a conferance side yet again, not just beat them but out played them. The midfield proved that on it's day it is the best midfield in the league, The defence looked like they had all been on 'Valium' so calm and collected.

Bertie Brayley and 'The Doug' performed well never stopping running and BB getting two goals in two games is a very good start for him.

The subs when brought on did everything that was asked of them, VJ used his strength ability to hold the ball up and JK out paced and out played the full-back.

Bring 'em all on. No Fear for the Urchinboys !

Well done all the players and to George and Terry !
