Minimum Wage

Recommended Posts

I understand that fresh talks by the alleged government are being held reference boosting the minimum wage for 16-18 year olds

Fine no problem but should not our senior citizens get at least the youngsters minimum wage as a pension

£4 an hour I believe I.E. 40 hrs x £4 = a minimum pension of £160 per week

Take away council tax and the cost of travel and food etc and its still not a lot especially when they have made contributions for 40 x 48 plus years

I understand but you have 30-40 years to attend to your own retirement

The retired people now did not have such an opportunity

The other issue is that the money Tony Bliar is throwing around now like a man with no hands is from a fund built by the monies of people who "today" are unable to manage

eight years ago Mr Bliar told the electorate that in his vision senior members of "his" society would have their fair share of the countries wealth, a wealth balance by the way the senior members of society built for him

Thank god when this Bliar and his thick self grabbing cronies are history

not so.. people were taxed.. national insurance.. and told that was their pension pot and health care etc..

much like taxes on petrol were originally to fund the roads, somewhere along the line the money was spent on other crap.. blair is just the last , and worst, of a long line of ego driven twats that forget they are there to serve the people, not rule them.

bollox...with so many stealth taxes as well as your "known" taxes, these days it's nigh impossible to save, especially if you are an "average" family...(2.4 kids et.c)

If you can`t be bothered to vote, why bother to moan?

Maybe your vote wont make a difference but if enough can`t be bothered`s voted then together they would.

People fought long and hard to gain the vote so use your right.

Take the system back from those few who bother and only represent the few.

I like the earlier comment that people on a pension now should have saved more

Obviously our young friend was not there attempting to keep life and limb (and family) together under that other calamity the 70!s labour government

But all jokes aside (including this present mob) we have been promised since WW11 that the N.I payments would take away all fears for retirement, in all I have had three weeks unemployed since 1955 and through that overlong period have paid every tax known to man,for what?

Ill tell you what so that Bliar and his thieves can vote themselves the biggest known pension rise for MPs in history according to Bliar so that Westminster could continue to attract the best people to its ranks

This I remind you from a PM whose Deputy PM is Prescott

Politicians have certainly wreaked havoc by claiming that nobody needs to worry about their pension. That lulled many people into not saving, and many people realised too late that it was a pack of lies.

As for the '70's, the easiest way to survive the robbery by inflation was to borrow as much as possible, though, of course, some people were able to borrow more than others.

Still, there were opportunities for saving for most people.

For, I believe, only the second time in history, I find myself agreeing with pabird.

Surely one of the marks of a civilisation is that it cares for its elderly, sick and so on.

If you try and make everyone go private, so to speak, you are entirley at the mercy of the stock market, shysters in suits, the Maxwells and so on. People's well-earned (or in the case of Uncle and CANV, ill-deserved) retirement years should not be gambles, in the clammy hands of such creatures.

i'd sooner have the clammey handed, performance related paid, pitsea barrow boy looking after my pension, then some know nothing uni grad twat who has been in the civil service since day one and thinks the state knows best twat, looking after my hard earned.. the emphasis being on the EARNED there.. its a market place.. make your own decisions and take your profits and losses with the same smile on your face.. boo hoo my credit card from dixons charges me 30 per cent i expect the govmnt to help me.. boo fking hoo you stupid twat i expect the govmnt to shoot you for being a fking spanner and getting one.!!

as for the current pensioners and those soon the become pensioners they should be paid a decent pension now.. they were promised one and they have paid taxes to fund one.. as for us lot, well most people now realise the current system will be unworkable in 20 years or so and we should make our own arrangements.. no problem as long as we know the score.. but surely some reduction in tax is called for at some stage ?

agree with all of that.....I worked out years ago that none of these shysters and carpetbaggers was gonna look after me and my lot so I set about doing it myself....

my old man worked for the government for 45 years as well as serving in all three services and he died fckin skint..they even nicked half his pension of me old mum...

fck the lot of 'em....offshore tax havens for everyone..... <img src="/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
