Shearer is going to Dover

Recommended Posts

This was on the Dover website;

LEE SHEARER is set to re-join Dover tomorrow night after Gravesend boss Andy Ford agreed to let him go out on loan for a month .

Whites boss Steve Browne said the two club had agreed the deal this morning and Shearer would sign at the Hoverspeed Stadium before training tomorrow.

Shearer was a big favourite at Dover and is expected to go straight into the side at Yeading on Saturday.

Browne said: "This loan move is with a view to making it permanent. Lee is a fine player and I believe will be a big signing for Dover Athletic. Andy Ford has agreed for him to come and we're delighted

"Lee has been keen in coming back to Dover and he will strengthen our defence no end."

Well i heard that there was a verbal confrontation between Lee and Andy, prior to the Exeter match, about this move and Lee did not want to go on loan or leave us, so i wonder whats realy going on.

Lee Shearer's heart is always with Dover and he has been in touch with that club since the summer - trying to get a deal together to re-join them. That is common knowledge in Dover, where all his friends are.

What the hell is going on? He was good enough to play Saturday, so why are we letting him go. Personalities may be involved but that shouldn't come into it. Will be interesting to hear Andy Ford's reason for releasing him. Just hope he's got a class replacement

Certainly Shearer's form doesn't warrant him being loaned out, and going from starting line-up to out on loan in one fell swoop would certainly be unusual. Therefore, on-field matters wouldn't appear to be the reasoning for a loan move (if indeed it is true). But whatever the true reason (and I certainly don't profess to know it), as Gary says, it may well leave us somewhat short at the back.

Very dissappointed that Lee is going, agree it leaves us short at the back, surely an adequate replacement is required.
I realise that up to now it's only a loan deal, but as stated, from first team selection to out on loan seems odd.
No point in asking if the deal becomes permanent whether a fee could be involved as Dover appear to be skint.

Matt Lee wasn't even getting a game at bottom-of-the-table Welling! They loaned him out to Tonbridge. Unbelievable!

So Andy Ford and Chris Kinnear came to same conclusion.

Us Margate fans were equally disappointed when he joined you.

I guess us mere fans will never know the true stories

Dover are not too skint to put that muppet Browne on a two year contract though.
I am amazed he is actually trying to sign someone he has not previously employed. Strange loan deal that though - loaning a player out who was in the first team.

Browne also has a habit of being involved in strange loan deals - when at Slough he loaned out our first choice centre half and captain to Hayes who were in the league above us at the time.

If there was a personality clash , Lee didnt let it show on the pitch , and he always had time to speak to the fans at both home and away fixtures. He knew his place and he earned respect with gutsy performances.

Many at the club should look at Lee and see that a clash with management should not be seen in public and lee has always fulfilled his professional obligations on the pitch.

A big loss and just wish him all the best. A man who will be an asset to any team he plays in.

In my starting lineup all the time

So let us get this straight

According to Dover sources, he's wanted to go back to Dover since the start of the season.
According to Gravesend sources, he doesn't want to leave the Fleet and seems relatively happy here.

Strange.

And in yesterdays messenger Andy Ford said about the previous weeks loan offer 'dover came in for him and at one stage it could have happened but I decided it didn't.'
Then he starts on saturday and plays well.
And now he's apparently going to Dover. Very strange.
