The season is barely a third of the way through. It is true that both Abbey and Town are unbeaten but with 2/3 of the season to go it is too early to make predictions.

Abbey have had a good run but each game will get harder as the other teams try to upset their rythm. To win a league every game has to be played like a cup tie. At the moment the pressure is on Abbey as they are top.

I have seen most of the Town's games this season and they have also produced results whilst not playing well. They have also lost concentration on a number of occasions but other sides have not taken advantage of it.

On Saturday their play was dazzling. Chopper had very little to do and not one single shot to save. They moved and played for each other almost as a single unit. They do have a big squad of good ball players and they clearly have more experience than Abbey and that is where I think they will win the title. I wonder what will happen when/if Abbey lose. Will they be able to recover? When do they start turning out expecting to win rather than playing to win?

It will be an interesting run in AFTER CHRISTMAS at present these are the preliminaries to the main show.

couldnt be further from the truth twinkle. u will c from on here that both ourselves and town have both said that there are many strong sides who could mount a challenge and there is so many you couldnt say 1.

if we dont win it it certainly wont be because we think we are too good or underestimate anyone it will be because their is a better team in the league. im sure all the other teams on here will say the same thing.

Maybe towns experience will help them alot over the abbey, But i think the abbeys inexperience of the boys and how young they are will also help them. There just playing games of football and enjoying it, they don't have any pressure as they will take each game as it is, a game of football

relisys thanks, we have been playing well at the moment but do not underestimate the other sides in the league!

Quite right, what could also have a bearing will be how well the Abbey's & Towns pitches hold up over the Winter.
Both teams need a good surface to play their brand of Footie on.

Difficult to see beyond Waltham Abbey to be honest, given their excellent start and 7 point lead.

Enfield Town have a great fan base and away following, and Burnham Ramblers now have the financial clout. Both could mount a challenge but I can't see either catching WA.

My own club, Bowers & Pitsea (That's our crest on the left) are paying for a struggling start but are now making great strides, as recent results will bear out. However, we may yet have a say in where other teams will finish. I think we could make the top 4/5.

I thought I'd resurrect this old thread following today's results. Still too early to write off ETFC but I see no reason to change my prediction.

Other results were:

Basildon Utd 4-0 London APSA
Bowers & Pitsea 3-1 Hullbridge Sports
Eton Manor 0-2 Southend Manor
