Come on Abbeynut .That sounds a bit Micky Mouse about the tannoy. I thought you were a go-ahead club.?What chance of you having your ground up to promotion requirments by the league deadline.?? Ilford had plans last year. They kept their players informed right up until the end of the season that their ground would be improved to enable them to meet Ryman 1 standards if they got promoted.In reality they didn't even manage to start ANY work before the deadline.

 

I don't believe for a single minute that any club would intentionally lie to their players about 'progression'. But they do normally tell them the best senario outcome,rather than the realistic one.

 

I hope you do manage to meet the criteria. Because if you win the league. you deserve to go up.

It was interesting talking to some of the Abbey players when our paths have crossed recently.

 

They thought that getting the ground up to scratch would be enough of a problem, but realistically recognised that even then their chances of succeeedimg at the next level wouldn't be great without a significant improvement in the club's financial fortunes.

 

A very honest assessment, I thought.
