Time to move on

Recommended Posts

Now come on guys this is all getting a touch boring now. Townies have blamed just about everyone for their loss, apart from Bin Laden, el niño or mars being in conjunction with venus in having some kind of impact on the result.

Abbey fans have taken it all in their stride, albeit in a smug and sanctamonious way - and who could blame them? I'd have been the same if Romford had reversed that 4-1 tonking.

It is no good picking over every little incident for days on end. It is over, gone, finito, done and dusted. The result was 2-0 and will evermore be so and will not come with a suffix saying:

Waltham Abbey 2-0 Enfield Town

(but the visitors should have won because (fill in the blanks).

Remember Townies it is one defeat. Abbey have some tough games still to come and if they draw a couple and ET win the return then it's game on.

God knows what will happen come next Sunday afternoon if the real Enfield win in the Vase???

I'm a Romford fan, get me out of here!

Whatever happens next Sunday will certainly put the Abbey game to bed, you can be sure of that. In fact tonight's League cup game will probably do that. Particularly if we don't beat Concord

I believe so.

Incidentally this week's Centre Spot said that Sawbo, Concord and us are fighting for two spots but that's wrong. Sawbo are already through with ten points as a draw leaves both us and Concord on 9 and a win for either gives the winner 11 points and leaves the loser on 8. So Sawbo can only be overtaken by one team.

Lets get one thing straight...Enfield Town ARE the real Enfield in all but name. EFC are nothing like the real Enfield APART from the name.

That should stir MK.

I don't think so somehow, don't get all these highly convuluted ideas a la AFC Wimbledon fans. You both, for reasons various, decided to break away from the parent club and do your own thing under a NEW guise. I have nothing but admiration for what both NEW clubs have done, but remember your history is only 4 years old, and you are not the Amateur and FA Trophy winning side of the 60s & 80s.

If we have personally watched all those thousands of games ,then they are part OUR of personal history.Like it or not.

People playing under the badge of EFC can claim that very history in their honours list(they are entitled to do so because they retained the name). But WE actually witnessed and participated in the winning of those throphies that they are now so proud of.

No doubt they do, but the two things do not equate. We all know the reason for both clubs forming breakaway teams, and as I have said fair play to both, but they are now new clubs and any past glory belongs to the originals Enfield and Wimbledon, not Townies and AFC.

You're right. I was merely pointing out that where there is no history, the incumbents will reflect in history of others. A bit like the Yanks and the Aussies....

True, and yes he is. But they are Bowers & Pitsea's closest rivals. I won't say bitter as we don't have that kind of relationship with them.

We just want to beat them and finish above them.

How can we refect in the history of 'others'.?? It was our history .We helped create that History. We were present when that history was being made. We have as much right as anyone to claim those memories as our own .

You'll have to do better than that young man... I don't go in for all that the club belongs to the fans b*llocks, even in the case of ETFC.
