AbbeyNut answer me this then

An alternative thread could be film stars mentioned in songs, e.g.

Bananarama - Robert De Nero's waiting

Kim Carnes - Betty Davis' eyes

Nina Simone - My baby just cares for me (Elizabeth Taylor, Lana Turner et al)

Madonna - Vogue, (lots on that one)

Or for a laugh, how about lytics that say one thing but sound like something else, as a starter I give you Desmond Dekker's "Me ears are alight"

What about some good old self-abuse songs:

Pictures of Lily - The Who

Turning Japanese - The Vapors

Teenage Kicks - The Undertones (although, the jury is still out on this one).

and what about the lyrics on Alison Moyet's Love Resurrection, now how did that one get past the BBC?

Aswad - Shine, mentions footballer and other sportmen. "The crowd is roaring, Ian Wrights scoring". Or to re-word it how Spurs supporters sang it.... "The crowd are snoring, Ian Wrights boring".

Marillion are a contemporary rock band with a huge following. they were formed in the late 70s/early 80s and enjoyed considerable success with Fish as their lead singer. He leftin '88 abd Steve Hogarth joined. The bands' line up has remained the same since then. Tehy are very good at promoting themselves via the Internet as thenational radio stations refuse to play their songs despite no 7 and no 16 hit singles earlier this year. You can find out more at www.marillion.com

Believe me, they are first class.
