I suppose (while we're in this mood) that the ball doesn't have to be propelled into the goal. Provided the ball is in play, it could come to rest near the goal line, then a gust of wind could blow it over the line.

Or does that count as being propelled by the wind?

In which case, if the ground was one of those with a gradient, like the old Yeovil, B****t, or indeed Ware, it could just roll in. Something would have to disturb its equilibrum though I suppose.

I think I'm on a loser here.....

Well, if the ball was up near one goalpost and started rolling down across the face of the goal, a slight imperfection in the playing surface could divert it in......

Then you also have to allow for the action of the earth's magnetic field on the little metal valve in the ball.....

Could happen at Saffron Walden too!

Would that metal valve be the one made from plastic?.

Not if it's one with metal bits inside it.

Actually, Yeovil's old Huish ground sloped down and across. Mind you went there about five times in the old days and only ever saw one game sober! The cider they used to sell in the old Green and White club, could get an elephant p!ssed after two pints, and two pints was all they would let you have, unless you was a local...

Hendon dominated from start to finish against a tired looking Town side. John Frendo put the Greens in front after 20 minutes, Dave Sargent made it 2-0 a minute into the second half, then a hat-trick from Nicholls made it 5-0. Steve Brady was sent off for two bookables, and Enfield finished with 9 men after two hobbled off after their subs had been used.

It was a very physical game in which there should have been more than one player sent off & frankly the Town were pathetic.

Slight typing error there: it should read "two were put out of the game by late tackles after their subs had been used" One led to the sending off but the other went totally unpunished.

As for an expansion on "pathetic" I would simply say that this was the worst Hendon side I've ever seen but they still won 5-0.
