Andy's Statement

Recommended Posts

Andy has asked me to post this for him:

It is with great regret that I felt it necessary to hand in my resignation last night after the Stevenage game. I feel that I have taken the Club as far as I can in the present circumstances.

After a great deal of thought over the weekend and a couple of meetings with the Chairman, it became obvious that I did not have the backing that was needed to carry on. I wish the Club every success and sincerely hope that their progress can be maintained.

I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone at Gravesend & Northfleet Football Club for their unprecedented support during my seven and half years as manager. I feel very proud of our achievements in the progression the Club has made on and off the pitch.

A special thank you has to go to all the players that I have worked with, as I have been extremely proud of their performances and they have always given of their best.

Finally a big thank you to all the supporters of the club, as the attendances have continued to rise and the support they have given the players and myself, home and away, during the recent poor run has been superb.

I now intend to spend more time with my family as both have been sacrificed in the pursuit of success in football.

Interesting choice of words!

Exactly the bit that caught my attention. Does he mean he suspected someone else was being lined up? Not nice for Andy, but an unfortunate fact of life in football, even at our relatively modest level. Or, much more worringly, is he inferring that the financial backing wasn't there for what he felt he needed to do?

Time will tell.

"Andy Fords Red and White Army"

such a shame that this song was a "jinx" (although I did not believe it myself) after the Barnet game lol. It was great fun when we sang it for ages non stop <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

Thanks for everything Andy!!

It makes me wonder whether he was refering to "Player Power",and thats where he had lost the support!

No I can assure you that he wasn't, despite all of the rumours to the contary, Andy had not lost the dressing room, and the players were united last night in asking him not to go.

As much as I would love to sing it we now have to leave it in the past and support steve and paul. Two good players who we want to keep.
Best thing to do is to fill up Daggers covered bit with the drum like last season and drown out their fans and that bloody trumpet!!
