Billericay 2 - Wealdstone 0

Overall fine performance. When we played football we looked again as if there would be few teams that could live with us but at times, still got sucked into a long ball game which makes us look ordinary.

Tarkan looked a class player and our new keeper, although had some shaky moments, looked okay. I'm sure things will be easier for him when he's settled in.

Over all, the lads did very well and this win should set up for a good run in the league...Winning is a habit and one we got used to last season...Lets get that habit back.

I thought the scoreline was about right. We had by far the better of it for the whole 90 minutes (!) and restricted the Stones prolific strikers to one real chance (which Jolly should have buried but never mind). We could have got more had we not been unlucky with efforts hitting the post and being cleared off the line.

Hockers was again in the right place at the right time. 45 goals in 64 starts...I can't see how anyone can argue with that. Millard had a couple of "Mel-esque" moments but will be pleased with his clean sheet and Tarks looks a very good addition.

In my view we are a central midfield player away from having a squad at least as good as last seasons and let's hope we can continue to move forwards. A good effort and a deserved win today.

As someone who has missed the last three games before yesterday, I couldn't see what all the fuss was about us being so poor lately ! Very good display, the two new lads certainly showed their quality. (Millard - shaky moments, Gaz ? Must have missed them mate !) Fully deserved win, bigger crowd than it looked too acc to the NLP today. Let's hope our season builds on this...

A big step in the right direction.... thought we competed a lot better in the midfield area, some of our passing was a touch sloppy at times but overall we played some good stuff. Millard did well in goal, commanded his area well and Mustafa looks a class player - faded a little towards the end though.

I think Musti!! brings something we have been lacking this season, and that is composure. You can tell he has played up a couple of levels. Ricky looked comfortable coming for crosses and made (what i thought) was a crucial save in second half only for the ref to give a goalkick, but i probably was unsighted from my position. The team certainly looked more focused and unlike recent second halfs did not sit back too deep, but kept pressing when they could. Shame Macca had to go off, as i think Musti would have been even more of a danger where he started. But, lets be fair and say the players responded positively and that will give them all a shot of confidence.

Good win, and well done to Leon for keeping his cool again !!

A good performance by the lads that brings back a bit of confidence.

What a different place the club house was after the game compared to the last few weeks!

Lets hope we can take this performance /optimism forward into 2 important cup games this week.

agree with most of whats been said. Musti (like that!!) looked quality and its a credit to the club in being able to attract him here. The result was by far more important than the performance but i felt we actually played quite well. Both teams were playing offside and it did seem that there was a lot of stopages. Dont think anyone had a bad game, but leon and Musti were very good all afternoon.

Well done lads.

Grand stuff. Lovely to see us playing some football in the second half. I dont think Millard was tested much, so hard to judge him, but he made a few very good takes from crosses. Keith, i thought it was a save too, if it was it was a good one. A couple of dodgy 'edge of the area' moments, and some poor kicking in the second half, but first game ill give him the benefit of the doubt.

As for Mustafa (i prefer 'Tarks' to 'Musti' <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> ), looked pretty classy. Some good passing and ball holding first half, was a bit anonymous second half, but again, benefit of the doubt. Overall, good performance. I think we deserved the win, Wealdstone only had a few chances, and we hit the post, had a header off the line, and had a decent shot from Ross saved by the keeper. Roll on Tuesday, and more importantly, Saturday

I cant understand why people are questioning Ricky so early on - I thought he looked solid and his ability at catching crosses was superb.

Vast improvement from tuesday night.

Does anyone know if Ricky and Tarkan will be available for the Heybridge game on saturday?
