Most unusual Fans I have ever come across.

I went to watch the concord game on Saturday against AFC Hornchurch and I must say Hornchurch have some weird fans. I had to go back to the the entrance and check that the Ronda bus wasn't parked in the car pack or there was a concession on for the remedial type.

In particular you had two fans behind the goal shouting complete non-sense every five minutes, making noises like cartoon characters. I looked around me and wondered what kind of example they were showing to the kids that were watching. One of them kept flitching and would have been more at home in a nut house. We wonder why we have football hooligans in this country, when youngsters have these kind of role models to look up to.

At one stage a foul was committed against a Concord player, one of Afc Hornchurch's fans obviously didn't agree. So he decided to run up and down the touch line chasing the ref shouting abuse. I had never seen anything like it, he also had on a dodgy wild western leather cow boy hat on that he must have purchased at the Big boot sale on the way.

I can understand you have paid your entrance fee, maybe at a discounted rate for some. Your free to say what you like but some of your fans took it to an extreme.

Taking nothing away from the Afc Hornchurch team you have some good players and look like they can go on to better things after the ESL.

yup...very weird fans indeed...they turn up in their 100's...support their team...put loads of dosh into the home clubs coffers...behave themselves to a tee ALWAYS...have never been the subject of a complaint and support their club regardless without ever complaining about their team or their players...

very strange fans indeed... <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

I read something similar to this in the non league paper this weekend about the fans of AFC WImbledon and FC United, complaining that their fans were rowdy, over enthusiastic and occassionally abusive towards officials.

The answer is the same: AFC Hornchurch, unlike most teams in this league have fans, not spectators, they have fans. We got to watch the team, home and away not only to sample the quality of your burgers and tea, but to support our team. We want to win, we care if officials make poor decisions, we get behind our team and we come back for more if we lose.

Our home matches are full of families, men, women, kids, whatever, all of whom are there to see their side win playing football the way it should be played.

It seems to me that there are people at non league matches expecting a cricket crowd, clapping respectfully, remaining quiet and not partaking in a sing song when we cant feel our feet or hands anymore.

For goodness sakes, if you want a match without atmosphere, without banter and passion, then stick with your 40 fans a game, a hot bovril and no money in the coffers.

Supporters of the Urchins care, a lot. We enjoyed our day out in Canvey, the banter, the tension and the result.

It might interest you to note that the Concord Keeper had a broad grin on his face from the comments he received.....and he was closest to the two, special fans you refer to. And as for the decision you query, perhaps this was the two footed lunge made by the Concord number 6 which could have resulted in a straight red and serious injury for one of our lads???? Seems worthy of a 50 yard sprint up the line to question the refs parentage to me.

Good luck with the rest of the season and I hope the sewage works returned to peaceful normality after we left.

Up the urchins! <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/angry.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/argue.gif" alt="" />

As a concord player said 'Ref, they wont give the ball back'. I know it's not good to print players comments, but that was a priceless moment.

Cheers for coming to watch, Bredwin, you must admit it was more amusing that watching a fan free game in a park. Whatever your views on the use of the queens English.
