Playoff place?

Recommended Posts

Since Matt has taken chance with played argueably the best football in the league. Brought in some great players and have added real depth in the squad.

Walton and Worthings Recent form has been poor. but unfortunatly Heybridge have won 6 From 6.

hampton and staines have also not been so good in recent weeks.

heybridge have 3 games in hand and i have to think they will come second. leaving the remaing 3 places to be battled out between 8 teams.

With 12 games remaining looking at the fixtues i would excpect us to take 19 - 23 points. Leaving us around the mid 60's point mark.

how many points Did leyton make the playoffs with last season?

By my reckoning, we need to win 9 from our last 12 to secure a play off place. At the mo we're on 46 points. 9 wins will put us on 73 points.

As Tom has suggested, Matt has strengthend the squad, we're playing the best football in the league, so it won't be for lack of trying if we don't get there.

It is a big ask to achieve the play offs. We could potentially win those games but whose to say we wont drop points (eg) Hendon. It happens when you dont expect it. For me though, the football being played presently is good. Yes, we all desperately want play off spot. Yes, we desperately want that promotion too. But, I have really enjoyed the last 6 odd games (and we have not won all of them either). I really do think it is a big ask, (defo not unatainable) but a big ask. But hell, I am loving the football being played.

Gazza, I think you're in with a shout. I hear that MJ has got you playing again.

Heybridge are on a roll and I think both Hampton & Fisher are also play-off bound (at least). As to that fifth place play-off spot I think it's between you and the Wombles.

Good luck to you all & see you a week on Saturday.

I think even if we dont get a play off spot, the football being played at the moment is exciting for next season. If we dont go up this year (and we probably wont), im confident with matt at the helm and a strong squad which we have at the moment, we can make a very strong push for promotion next year. And lets face it, we'd all rather do it in style than sneak up via the play offs wouldnt we?

I agree with IW when he states that certs for play-off places are heybridge, hampton and fisher, leaving one spot to fight for. I am fairly confident we can do this as the run-in is certainly nothing to fear. Results against the 12 sides left remining read won 4 drawn 6 lost 2 - any replication of these results (there is nothing to suggest we wont better these results) will see us go very close - we're in for an exciting finish.

Despite this i think the old adage 'one game at a time' could never be truer!

I think we may be getting a little carried away here.

Win or lose, lets try to enjoy the games we have left, and where we finish, is where we finish.

I have asked UU to ban all disappointment So come the season end, whatever our league position, we will be happy.

TC, I for one am just happy to watch the team grow from strength to strength and am caertainly not getting carried away.

The squad of players we have are certainly proving to be stronger than when we started out the season.

Disappointed if we don't do it? Yeah but tinged with a pinch of reality. As I said, it certainly won't be for lack of trying. As Doris Day once sang..."Whatever Will Be Will Be"
