Blind Optimism

Haile Gebrselassie? Frankie Fredericks? Not Ben Johnson - cheating g1t.

Track Record maybe, just someone with a little bit of umpf, flair, bite.

The Colonel has not got a Track Record (recently beaten for slowest 100 metre sprint by Neil Hart) but reckon he could do a decent job.

My vote would still go to DG.

the position as i understand it with Ian Gardner is that he is signed on for first team but has had no involvement with them at all, hes not even in the first team squad details, has had no goalkeeping coaching due to training nights clashing and therefore decided to play and train with the reserves on mon and wed and spital on saturdays. He was committed to a cup semi final when on the friday night he had a call asking to sit on the bench, why so late when he was at the club both mon and wed. the club must have known he was required, where does his loyalties stop, well hes been asked to travel Sat but according to the local -press DC was looking to bring someon else in on a short term, is that the way to treat young players ,what if he has a blinder will he be realeased again to go back to reserves and spital.this is the problem with Capital league other players are away playing for local sides on saturdays as their not considered for even the bench, give them some experience of the first team setup as they all seem committed to the reserves on Wednesdays.

On the DG thing as a completely "impartial" observer - I can understand why he went to Maidenhead when the offer was made. There was at the time talk of a new stadium and improved finances for the Magpies. That never materialised and the club is now in a fairly precarious position. I suspect it was only when he actually joined that the full facts came to light by which time it was too late. You were a decent side under DG but certainly results wise you have been awful under DC.

I suppose DG did get us into the premier league 2 years ago so if we go down there is no reason why he cannot do it again so I suppose I can forgive him going to our neighbours ok my vote 2 Doris.

My vote would still go to DG.

Its time for Windsor fans to decide if they want a "nice bloke" with a pathetic record as manager (I would be shocked if he's won even 10% of games since he took over) or do they want a man with vision and drive who has a will to win and more importantly has proved that he can make Windsor a force in non-league football....of course I'm talking about DG. Yes he made a mistake in going to Maidenhead and shouldn't have taken half the squad with him but we all make mistakes and I'm sure he would be the first to admit that if he could turn back the clock he would. The team that DG assembled was a pleasure to watch.compare that to the pap we have had to put up with this season, no motivation, no drive and very little ability. I think back to DG's reign with memorable trips like Lewes and Vauxhall Motors (would anybody seriously consider traveling 200miles to watch a DC side?) not that there is any chance of that happening anyway.

Bring back DG pronto and let restore the pride at WEFC.

I mean DC no malice and hope that one day he would bounce back and prove us all wrong but unfortunately he's had his window of opportunity at Windsor and he has blown it.

very strong post, plenty of passion there I for once can feel the adrenalin running from the supporters, and feel this has been a very good thread with good constructed comments.but will the board listen or just give up without a fight it will be 10 games left after sat?!

This one could run for a few days yet.

I don't think people understand. The club have hinted Carroll will be charge come what may! He has turned a corner recently. Give him a few weeks/months next season and see what happens even if it means 2 seasons in the league below.

The thing is Woody the club needs to move forward, its important to be proactive rather than reactive. And if we wait till next season and a bad start we are being 'reactive'. The board need to be proactive now and do what's right for the club and the supporters who are shelling out all their money each week.

Cannot agree enough with comments today, Freddie, Doris, Time for change, If we lose on Saturday its time up,its ok having improved performances woody but they mean nothin in a dog fight, the facts remain we have got 4 points in the last 6 games and that is not good enough, we have to grind out horrible wins. and I don't think DC is horrible enough.

i think that DG should come back no matter what some people say about him. the trophy run, promotion, THAT game at Lewes, who was it all under, that man! if we lose tuesday, then i think it should be goodbye DC, he's tried his best, but nothig has come of it, its ok having improved performances, but you've got to be gettin the results, and the last few games we haven given leads away which we should have held on too, especially heybridge!

Woody, there is no point the team playing good football only to lose games. Id rather play poor and get scrappy wins.

DG needs to re appointed as manager. Hopefully he has learnt from his mistakes of over confidence that he showed as manager before, and can take the club back to the Ryman Prem at the first time of asking.

If we were to change managers, I for one would be cautious when ;ooking at DG. We are going to be playing Ryman 1 and DG is probably going to feel he should be at least one, maybe two leagues higher.

I do not know how DG thnks, and i am not sayiong he will do this, but he could be looking at WEFC as a way to get another offer. Turn the side around in a relatively short space of time by getting in a few good journeyman players and then waiting for an offer to jump ship. I would hope that he wouldn't do that after last time, and it is possible he may be looking for something permanent, but we need to know the next manager is long term (3-4 years minimum) and has the club's interest at heart. If this is DG then great, get him back because ut was a great ride with him in charge, but if not then get someone who can bring some stability and growht for the club.

As for DC, great player for us, nice bloke but unlucky/unfortunate/uninspired? either way not good enough and for the benefit of the club should go. If he stays for next season (and it seems likely) he must deliver early on and give us something to turn up for. He must get young blood in the team, he must get a team playing as a team and he must get a level of enthusiam and desire running through the players.

I haven't seen that many games this season, but what i have seen is a few players lose interest, a few look beaten well before the end and a few lose it on the pitch and get red cards for no reason (we were winning as well, rediculous!!!). this is normally after playing well for 50 mins.

What i would like to see is a communication from the board so we know what is going on, i know it is always difficult but when everyone can see its

not working some form of direction is always appreciated.

I'll get back in my box now <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/affig.gif" alt="" />

Going back to a manager that has left the club is a major retrograde step, the history of what happened previously will always be around to haunt. It will not work!!!

If a change is required (and I’m not convinced it is) look to the future, a new man, and maybe your current reserve team managers?

I don't understand why reserve team management promote themselves for a job there not going to get and rallying for support on here, you should be focused on helping DC with players like on sat where was Gardiner when Drake was clearly not fit to play. if kevin and Peter decide to make changes put your applications in thn, in a proper fashion, moan over

I am NOT one of the reserve team management….and I have not been prompted by them to make that comment.
That’s a pretty tacky accusation! so you should feel ashamed.

My point is, why look to bring in someone you don’t know, when you have very able people already in the club?

we need someone with a track record, and thats not the reserve management.

DG Track record - Maidenhead and Chesham, not the best track record is it!
