Bromley 2-2 Billericay

Recommended Posts

Deja vu? Not quite...

2 changes from Saturday, Ricky came in for Dale (probably wished he hadn't as he twice got clattered by their centre forward), Gameo for Simmons.

Scrappy first half, bit of rain made for a skiddy surface, and both sides made a few mistakes. They shaded it and took the lead when Game slipped and allowed Wood in to cross for McDonnell to score.

Big blow for us when Dormer went off to hospital with an eye injury, hope he's ok.

2nd half a lot better in my opinion, Ricky made a superb double save with the third shot hitting the post. We've taken the lead when their defence has gone AWOL, Dave Collins has crossed and Leon Hunter scored. Minute later a comedy pen has given us the lead. Their keeper claimed the ball, but that didn't stop the donkey 15 clattering Flack in the area, ref right on hand to give the pen. Leon stepped up to score.

Once again though we've lsot concentration in injury time, ironically added on for the time Bromley were wasting when 1-0 up, and they've equallised.

Millard

Henty, Brown, McSweeney, Kerrigan

Game, Dormer, Hunter, Hodges

Flack, Elder

Subs

Simmons for Dormer

Collins for Hodges

Poole for Flack

I can't argue with that Simon except when you put "We've taken the lead"? Surely you mean, we equalised and then took the lead?

I thought we were a bit woeful in the first half. Our midfield looked out of sorts and Bromley dominated. Second half as was said was much better. There were three lining up to convert the equaliser and I had a vision that all three were going to get in each others way!!! Good goal for Leon. We need to get behind defences a lot more.

I would agree that Macca and Leon were the pick of the bunch but thought Collins played well. His crossess were fantastic. Whipped in and difficult to defend and he found loads of space down their right.

Now, lets hope the lads can see of Fisher to get themselves ready for the "big" game next Tuesday. I hope there will be a few more than 300 next week TC.

Good spot... it was late and I was more focused on my dinner cooking in the oven

Any news on Dorms? Hows his eye?

another fair result in my opinion. First half was all them this time, but we made it easy at times for them.

Second half we were better but I still felt they looked more likely to score which was backed up by that amazing double save from Millard. Had that been in the premiership they would have been replaying it for weeks. Stunning save which kept us in the game.

We really do need to learn how to defend though. We looked very weak all night with the exception of Kerrers (as usual). I think all the goals in both games we have conceeded have been avoidable.

The good thing is that we didnt play well but are on level stading in the tie so all to play for but we will need to play better.

Oh and the pitch was superb last night.

One last thing, where would this team be without Leon Hunter. I read in the programme on sat that he is out top league scorer, and last night his goals were vital again. Close call for man of the match as millards double save was superb but for me Leon's all round game and not just his goals was superb last night.

First half we looked sluggish and to be honest it looked like Bromley were the team that perhaps wanted it more in that period. Best wishes to Dorms on that note too.

Second half we upped the tempo, think Nath should have made more of a chance before Leon netted in a similar position. Once Leon put away the pen, i thought we may just nick a third, but i guess the story of our season has been conceeding sooo many late goals. Overall, got to be content with the draw and once again evenly poised for the return. I too thought Leon was good, and Ricky's saves could well turn out to be the turning point of the whole 2 legs?? Who Knows. Anyway, positive is we are not going into the second leg chasing the game. But I feel we will need to score a few if we are to get past Bromley. Good effort from the lads for coming from behind, so all to play for.

Now, if anyone is free in the summer, some dugouts need to be moved from one side of the pitch to the other.

Disappointing in the end, but at half time i'd have taken that, cos they were all over us. We got better when collins came on I thought. Showed alot more width, which i thought we lacked in the first half. Still struggling to defend corners though

No worries Tom, was suprised that there weren't a few more wanting to get out at that point!

As for the game, bit of a mixed bag performance for us I thought. Did well to turn the game round but a lack of concentration/sloppy defending has cost us once again. Agreed about Collins, looked good when he came on giving us much needed extra width. IMHO there aren't many players at this level that can deliver a ball as well as Collins. Hunter's booking for celebrating with supporters was a bit harsh.

The tannoy announcer was quality!

I'm pleased to announce the Phantom Raspberry Blower of Old 'Ricay Town will not be on the coach Saturday. British Rail have that pleasure!

Was it the old boy who did it at the League game there earlier this season - his performance before the game was legendary, especially the bit where he announced he was going to play a track off a CD with no info on it that one of the supporters had put together for him. He didn't know what it was called or who it was by but was assured that the recording was popular with the younger folk ! Brilliant !
