Windsor & Eton F.C.

Press Release.

Monday 8th May 2006

The Board announced today with considerable regret the termination of Dave Carroll’s position as Manager of Windsor & Eton Football Club.

Dave took over as Manager some 18 months ago and succeeded in stabilising the club in the difficult circumstances that followed Dennis Greene’s departure to Maidenhead United.

Since then Dave has been able to strengthen the playing squad with the addition of a number of exciting and talented new players.

Unfortunately a frustrating first half of the season, during which the team picked up a modest number of points, made it almost impossible for the club to avoid relegation, despite a general improvement in performance since Christmas.

The club is determined to bounce back to the Premier division at the first attempt and it is hoped that a new Manager will be able to provide the fresh impetus required to enable this challenging objective to be achieved.

Dave Carroll joined the club in November 2002 and made 107 appearances in total scoring 20 goals, a considerable haul from midfield.

He will perhaps be best remembered by Royalists fans as one of the most exceptionally talented footballers ever to pull on a Windsor & Eton shirt as well as being a thoroughly decent man.

Ends.

I don't care if they are local. I don't even care if they are in it for the money. I just want them to earn the money they get. that's all. It's not much to ask is it?

Who made the decision ?????

I think the clue comes in the sentence that includes the words 'board' and 'termination'!

Already getting negative comments from some before it's even announced who the new manager is, let's see who is appointed and what their remit is before commenting about local players and the like please.

it does seem strange that one minute the club are saying that he will stay, then the next he has been sacked. u still can't even spell matt 'iys'?!

lets just hope the club makes the best decision, even if it is DG, and still support the club, whoever the manager is!
