Canvey Island vs Billericay Town - Match Thread

I don't think programmes were issued, I didn't see anyone with one. I'll try and rememeber the starting line-up. I'm slightly confused with the Midfield though...

R. Wiseman (1)

G. Blewer (2), A. West (4), Trialist (5), C. Bourne (3)

L. Jay (11), Trialist (7), R. Edgar (8), M. Reed (6)

J. Curran (9), L. Gordon (10)

Too many subs to remember but Lamb, Corbell, Parker and a couple of trialists came on.

Dave or Glen will be able to confirm/correct this.

Jay Curran and Andrew West scored the first half goals.

I came away from todays game thoroughly impressed and uplifted by the team performance, the attendance and the general atmosphere around the place. I think we are in for a fantastic season and pretty much all the players gave good displays, in particular the No5, who is i understand a trialist ? looked very solid. Up the Gulls !!

The number five is a friend of Crow's. I think I overheard that they work together at SEEVIC. I was impressed with the trialist number seven too. Him and Edgar ran the midfield.

Thanks a lot Matt. Appreciate you taking the time to list everybody for me.

Interesting to see that Lee Jay played. I really rate him from seeing him play for the reserves last year and it is good to hear that a few new faces shone today too.

Looks like we have much to look forward to this season doesn't it?

his name is matt reade and last year played for great wakering.he wasn't given too many chances by the management and decided to have a break towards the end of the season.tried to sign him but he wanted to have a fresh start in a club where nobody knows him.i'm pleased for him because i feel at gwr he wasn't given a proper chance:played for me in the ressies at gwr and did really well.keep going matt

the match report from Yellow.

Doubt you'll get much out of him! He went mental and broke his glasses after Andrew West scored our second so he spent the majority of the game asking who was who!

Hi Dave!

Eh yeah, somebody whacked me in the face!!!

Very proud of our performance today. Every player played thir part and worked so hard. For me Curran, Blewer, Edgar and Creyling and Gordon really shone but every body who took part can be proud of how they played today.

Match report will hopefully be on here tomorrow but excuse some of the details as I was blind as a bat in the second half!!!!

I was absolutely delighted by the way the team played to day, both in terms of effort and ability. Everyone was magnificent, but Kreyling, Curran & Bourne stood out for me.

A superb attendance as well, let's hope that we can build on this immensely positive start to the new era!

Yeah that's it. Think it was spelt wrong on the teamsheet.

If we play as we did yesterday, against Sevenoaks on Tuesday, I feel we could easily put four or five past them.

It was interesting yesterday that we put out a strong line-up but even then Dobbo, Crow and Danny Curran are injured and Nicky Rugg is on holiday!

And another player to come if the rumours are true

Good day all round for the new era at Canvey Great performance by the team and if they can continue to play like that we are going to have a very enjoyable season

Just to confirm, Dobbo is fully fit but was at a wedding yesterday. This was known before we signed him and agreed.
