Well done ressies, good stuff. Going by the reports, I am tempted to suggest that we put them out as the first team and vice versa......

 

Oh yes, and one guineau is 21 shillings, 252 old pence, 105 new pence. I wonder if you had to save them up in a guineau-piggy bank?

 

Half a crown however is 2/6, or 30 old pence, 12.5 new pence.

 

Threepenny bits, sixpences..... what a load of old tosh it really was!

Ah the threepenny bit.

 

It was a duo-decahedron you know. And you put silver threepenny bits in the christmas pudding.

 

Half a crown was half a dollar as there were a little over 4 dollars to the pound until devalued by the labour government in 1947.

Steph. You must have come from a rich family to have a threepenny bit AND a christmas pudding!.

Bring back the farthing.

Inches - the first joint of the thumb.

 

Now as for the mile somebody else will have to suggest that but an acre is the amount a horse can plough in a day.

 

All perfectly rational and that is why we had a british empire.

Got sent an old EFC Programme on Saturday from a friend of mine, it was Final Tie Crook Town Vs Enfield FC at Wembley. Price one shilling. There is an advert in it for an England vs Uruguay Game prices for seats reserved & numbered seat 50/- (That shillings) 35/-, 25/-. 15/- Standing enclosure 7/6. Some of the other ads in it are funny, made our Jess laugh any way.
