Billericay 2-2 Aylesbury

Still not entirely sure how we didn't win this, dominated throughout, hit post twice and had a couple of penalty shouts turned down. Gave away 2 silly goals, which I guess is the answer!

Team

Worster

McSweeny Heffer Blewitt Kerrigan

Whelpdale Hill Dormer Hodges

Flack Elder

Subs:

Game for Hill

Holland for Flack

SNU: John, Swaine, Wright

Started well, passing the ball very well. Good balls into the box, couple of times didn't really attack them enough imho. Gave away a silly goal when Dorms and Hill seemed to run into each other, losing possession and allowing them to break. Continued to create, Joe hit side netting and Nathan headed against post. Good pen shout turned down when Whelps deemed fouled outside box, I thought was just inside. Gave away another silly goal when couple of slips left them with a clear run on goal.

2nd half much more purpose about us, didn't faff around so much. Joe hit the post then Nathan bagged his brace. Late on could have won it when Whelps broke clear, but he elected to pass when maybe he could have shot and their keeper made the save.

Yeah, we've gone from a stingy team that couldn't score goals to a not so stingy team that can (can we have it a stingy team in defence that scores lots of goals please)...Nice to see Nathan scoring two.

I would agree with you Simon, it was hard to see how we didn't win this as we were by far the best team but that's the way it goes, I suppose.

A superb effort to get on level terms.

I take it the Aylesbury pitch is 3 feet underwater? Should be more if tomorrows weather hits...

Aylebury being two up at half time was extremely flattering to them. Think they only got out of there owm half a couple of times and managed to score on both occasions!

Nathans two second half goals were well taken. Not spectacular but needed a cool head and Nathan delivered.

Plenty of opportunity to win it in the last 20m but couldn't quote make it.

Thought the crowd looked better today. 388 according to the Ryman site.

The replay is 80% likely to be called off. Haywood Way is on a floodplain, and currently under a couple of feet of water!

Don't know how you didn't win today - thought I was in dreamland at half time with a 2-0 lead!

Hope to see as many of you as possible at our new home (whenever it is!) It's only the 2nd game we've played there, as we're not aloud to use it in the league yet as it doesn't have the right grading.

First half was intertwined between complacency and sloppyness. Second half was more like it, and god only knows how we didn't win. Whelpdale was superb and it's great to see Elder back in amongst the goals. We're in the draw and if we don't win the replay, then we need shooting.

Very suprised by the total lack of Aylesbury support.

A game of mixed emotions, going forward we looked like scoring with every attack, but defensively we were sloppy.

A complete turnaround from where we were 6 weeks ago. I don’t think it will take a lot to tweak the defensive part of our game and push on from here on in. I do believe the lads have started work improving this area of their game, and had a little training session this morning...

Yep Ryan, I also thought Chris Welpdale had a cracking game, lets hope his improvement continues as he gains Match fitness, and Nathan is soooo much better when he remains focused and cool when its his turn with the ball.

Well its pi$$ing down here right now, so I guess Mondays game is in some doubt.

We've completely dominated this game from start to finish. I agree that their goals were a bit sloppy from our point of view but again we've shown the grit to come back from two down and in all honesty we should have won.

Aylesbury tried hard but we looked a much better side and as long as we approach the game correctly we should get through the replay.

Big positive was Nathan back to form. Two goals and his second especially I thought he took very well.

Hopefully we'll get an early shout as to whether the replay goes ahead?

A really superb come back by the lads, after as folk have said what was a bit of a comedy for their goals. Still, better to have the ability to be able to come back than throw the towel in, and imo if we had played for another 5 mins we would have got that final breakthrough. Nath scoring again will not only do himself good, but surely will also have a positive knock on effect for the team. Agreed about Whelps, he is really making a difference to us. Unsung hero for me recently is the ever reliable Danny K, nothing spectacular just does his job. The quality of our football when we step up a gear or 2 is really coming on, and i like the way we are attempting a long cross field pass to switch play which can be a potential unlocking door scenario.

As for the laugh factor, their keeper was a decent lad as he kept playing with a smile, and agreed that our first half shout was defo a pen as it was clearly in the box. Now why did we not have a chelmsford groundsman for this game

Good effort lads, and i really think that if we could play at the tempo we sustained in both Margate and Aylesbury second halfs for more like 75/80 mins we will score even more goals than what we are currently putting away. But hey, that is now 14 goals at New Lodge in 3 games !! Now that's Entertainment.
