Edgware shine on rainy day

Edgware maanged to play today, though the conditions were far from perfect, The 'Ware's' managed to play some controlled football, and beat St Mags by 4-0. To be honest the scoreline could have been a lot more,as Edgware had a hatfull of chances. The first half was a bit scrappy, with Edgware taking the lead just before HT, Stuart Blackburne finding the net for the first time in over a month since his comeback from injry.

 

The second period was a lot beter, as Edgware got to grips with the conditions, and started to psas the ball around, even on the wet and muddy suface. Another Stuart Blackburne goal after fine work from Adam Wallace, and St mags seemed to be waving the white flag, as they only had one shot on goal in the whole second period.

 

Paul Killick and and OG seald the win, which sees Edgware comfortably regain top spot from Leverstock who did not play today, we still have a game in hand over them, and two over third placed Hertford. Next Saturday we visit Harefield for what should be a cracker.

Think I was at a different game! I thought the 4-0 scoreline flattered you. Admittedly you deserved the win and at 2-0 you controlled the game. White Flag? I think you will find we were down to 10 men due to injury! Rose tinted glasses maybe! Denied a blatent penalty after 15 mins and playing without a keeper for the first 15 mins. Don't get me wrong Edgware are perhaps one of the best drilled and organised sides I have seen and I expect you to win the league but come on don't flatter yourself. Besides the game should never been played 2 of your goals came as a result of the pitch!

LOL LOL LOL you ARE having a laugh tubbsy!!!!

First off, you had an outfield player as goalkeeper and NEVER made any note of it in the teamsheet, sure you had his name down as #1 but you never made any mention to me or anyone else that you would start the game with an outfield player in goal, VERY unproffesional.

Penalty? what penalty? we should have a had penalty, and what difference would that have made? You were one of the poorest sides we have played, with or without the rain. Once we got to grips with the conditions we could have had 6 or 7 or more. The second half was one way traffic, and I think our keeper had 3 saves to make ALL match.

Dont blame the conditons you seemed quite happy to have the game played, both teams have to play on the pitch.

Also, was it my imagination, or did you use the #8 board to sub two players, you replaced your keeper with #8 and then later in the game another #8 was used to sub a player <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

I sense serious sour grapes on your heaviest defeat of the season!!!!

Having said all that, nice to meet you Tubbsy, it's only football mate!!!!!

St Mags Steve Barker went up for a header only to have an Edgware player jump right through the back of him with a leading arm and not get anywhere near the ball.

 

Steve also left the field of play with about 10 minutes to go I think after getting injured and St Mags had made all their subs.

 

I do agree with Gav that Edgware could have scored more and the St Mags goal did lead a semi charmed life. As I posted earlier Edgware were denied a blatent penalty late on as well.

Doh!! I must have been reaching for my fruit pastilles (oh er missus) when both penalty issues happened, as I dont recall them, also I did not realize that St mags had made their 3 subs and did not have another player to take the place, so sorry to Tubbsy about that.

Dont ask me I was confused by the whole thing. Maybe it was a ploy by ST Mags to confuse Edgware, it never worked though <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />
