Anyone else mad , like me , or spitting feathers at the lack of coverage we get from the MOS and others ? I've had a lazy day , and only just read the woeful paragraph of coverage they allocate to the conf . Of the 22 teams playing yesterday , in the space of 42 lines they mention every bloody team except us and , by association , Northwich . They even state that Wahey-muff remain in 3rd place after their comeuppance at Woking , yet the printed table beneath shows us 3rd and Muff 4th . Can't wait for the Sun tomorrow - bet it's exactly the same guff , bearing in mind they're both News International ( Digger Murdoch ) ... who also owns Sky ... who are screening Grays v Fleet on Jan 3rd ... hmmm ... anyone else see a loud rant in front of the cameras coming ??? Or a large well placed banner ??? Time to blow our own trumpets , methinks . Anyone else fit to bust ?

My point being that unless we get serious coverage in serious papers with big readerships we will not attract people through the gate . No offence to NLP ( which I buy ) but more people read the MOS and the Sun . If people have to look for us in the table , and with no mention in the accompanying write up , this doesn't do us a favour . Why no Fleet ??? Are we all NTL/Telewest customers and Guardianistas ? No - why the obvious bias ? Should we complain ? Or vote with our feet ? ( NO offence to the disabled here )

You're lucky: the Sunday Express doesn't have anything: neither does the Guardian.

Was watching the bbc news sat 5-oclock, and the same thing i noticed, they went through every league table of whos moved up top 5 places and then the bottom etc, but gets to the conference, and its only the top 2 and then straight to the bottom, not even a mention of 3rd place, sunday mirror is the same, our name mentioned in assotiation with northwich.

Let's be honest, we're not going to win many new fans by a couple more lines in a national paper. The Conference is never going to get 'serious' coverage in a national newspaper... never has, never will. It's just not a big enough draw.

You can't really blame the papers... like anything, they'll go for the bigger draw that sells more, and that's Premiership coverage with lessening coverage as you go down the divisions.

The coverage in the Mail on Sunday was indeed 'disappointing'.

The coverage in last weeks News Shopper was however even worse.

The front cover states that it is the Gravesend News Shopper,

but look at the sports coverage and.......not a single mention for the 'Fleet.

Charlton get a mention,

so do Dartford

and even bloody Cray Wanderas....

but the 'Fleet????? not a single word, not an iota of a mention!

I have always thought that this poor excuse for a local newspaper was crap and a total waste of newsprint...now I know it is.

Any lack of publicity is a blessing in a way - we don't want the opposition thinking we're a good Conference side, do we?

Anyway, as Stu M implies, whether we get a couple of lines or nothing at all in the national papers is of little importance really.

Dooooo it! That'd be great. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

The edition of the News of the World (my mum buys it, I swear...) the day after our win over Oxford contained a page-long column on our 1-0 hammering, with a picture of Sodje there too.
