How crap was that.

If you were privy to that information why did you not mention it to Trotty? Or was that your thinking of what happened. We under achieved & had a wrong attitude.Thats it! If we played as we had done previously their change in play wouldnt have entered into it.

As Trotty said lately we can only lose out if OUR players let themselves down. This was the case tonight I feel. Not because of others tactical alterations.

We should be able to see this, adjust to it,& counter it if we are to win anything this year or get somewhere near to it.Its not the end of the world losing tonight. It hurts, of course it does but we are still there.I agree with you however, though not for the same reasons that lessons WILL have been learnt.

You can't put it down to the keeper or one particular player. Staines were told at half time to get in our face and disrupt our game. They did it; it worked. We weren't able to adapt.

We were beaten mentally at that point.

Lesson learnt.

Spot on as usual there Chris. But it should have been obvious that Staines were going to get a rocket at half time and be told to get in our faces. Ramsgate will be told to get in our faces - we must prepare for teams to play like this. Ramsgate will pack the middle and put a man on our ball playing midfielders to stop us playing. We must be ready for it. We couldnt weather the storm and they gained in confidence with every goal they scored. I'm sure as you say Chris it was just a mental thing and we will be ready on Saturday as we know the team has the class and can adapt.

Good first half, agree with SSS we missed Jay from the middle 2nd half. Too easy for Staines, far too much time on the ball 2nd half.

SCS back PLEASE on Saturday.

Crap 2nd half so lets get a win Saturday that is vitally important. Carshalton can be very in your face so we must be ready for that.

Encouraged a friend to come to see the Gate for the first time on the back of the recent brilliant results and they turn in a performance like that. First half was O.K. and that second half performance was woeful. We lost the midfield and the back line lost it completely. Jekyll and Hyde springs to mind.

Just for the record I only take tea to the away team Cookie and I promise nothing went in theres, maybe I should have! Disappointing 2nd half after the lads recent performances away from home. Maybe tiredness crept in after playing 3 games in 7 days compared to Staines 1, who knows? I'm sure lads will want to make up for that & come out fighting on Saturday, well I hope so.

Lets not just blame Charlie for the goals - the whole defence were poor and from where I was, non existent at times. Staines were well organised and were an effective yellow wall. It must have been frustrating for the players, it certainly was for us!

Am going to think long and hard about my next game - have managed to see three so far and all of them we've lost! (Borehamwood, Gloucester & last night!) Oof.....

I agree we cant blame Charlie for the goals, well maybe one of them, the fourth,a shot from around the edge of the penalty area that sailed over his head & under the bar. How tall is Charlie for goodness sake. One "flap" in the first half too but up until they scored their first goal he hadnt really had a save to make(maybe two or three easy saves maybe),if I recall correctly. As for the the other goals I couldnt see where any blame could be attached to him.

No,last nights second half drubbing by Staines cant be apportioned to Charlie.Though again I agree I would prefer Scott.

All round at the back(second half) they just never got it together.First half the defence was superb I thought.

My man of the match last night, even though the second half defending was poor actually goes to a defender believe it or not.Pat Sappleton was really good in all that he did last night i.m.o. He certainly stood out for me amongst the others.Jacko came close to my top billing at one time but as so often happens with him lately he dosent seem so affective in the second period as in the first.Early on he was spraying top notch crosses into their box.In that period all our chances were coming from his assists. We should with a little more luck have gone in at half-time 3 goals to the good.Only miraculous goalkeeping prevented that.

Anyway its gone now, best to put it behind us & hopefully the team will come out Saturday having sorting themselves out.

To any newcomers who went last night I would implore them to come again & not see last night as the norm. Believe me over the past month this team has been a revelation, really. Last nights second half was just too bad to be true & was out of character from what we have been seeing of late.

I think its "Top of the Table" syndrome. Were we not top when we got stuffed at Boreham Wood? How can a team play such good football over the last two games and then be so poor. Biggest disappointment was, that considering the weather, there was good crowd there last night. Will they be there again sat.

No! If that was your first visit would you go back Steve. It depresses me to get these new people in then to lose them straight away as they havent witnessed the good side to this team & that consistency that I thought we had managed to achieve.

Lets just hope that those new visitors realise that we didnt get to the top by playing that way.I reckon, on second thoughts, that if they think about it more, then maybe they WILL return after all. Lets hope so.

Agree with you Margateshot! The last 3 games I've seen we've been beaten when we should have 'easily' won. Anyway, i'll be back on the live commentary on Saturday back here in sunny Oxfordshire! Come on you Bluuuueeeeessss <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/excited.gif" alt="" />
